The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Accounting for nonstationarity in the condition monitoring of wind turbine gearboxes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Increasing growth of wind turbine systems suggests a more systematic research around their design, operation and maintenance is needed. These systems operate under challenging enviromental conditions and failure of some of their parts, for the time being,

A Multi-Objective Temperature Control Method for a Multi-Stack Fuel Cell System with Different Stacks Based on Model Predictive Control

open access: yesEnergies
The multi-stack fuel cell system (MFCS) has advantages such as a wide range, long life, and high efficiency; however, its multiple heat sources impose higher requirements on the thermal management system, especially for different stacks.

Experimental study on the shunting performance of a rectifying nozzle-type critical distributor under variable operating conditions of a multiparallel evaporator

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2023
In this study, we analyzed the relationship between the refrigerant distribution of a multiparallel evaporator and the structural design of a distributor to address uneven distribution of gas–liquid refrigerants in multiparallel evaporators under ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
