Real-Time Operating System/360 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
RTOS has a cost savings advantage for real-time applications, such as those with random inputs requiring a flexible data routing facility, display systems simplified by a device independent interface language, and complex applications needing added ...

A Systematic Review of Evidence on the Clinical Effectiveness of Surveillance Imaging in Children With Medulloblastoma and Ependymoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Surveillance imaging aims to detect tumour relapse before symptoms develop, but it's unclear whether earlier detection of relapse leads to better outcomes in children and young people (CYP) with medulloblastoma and ependymoma. This systematic review aims to identify relevant literature to determine the efficacy of surveillance magnetic ...

UNIX License Makes Linux the Last Major Piece of the Puzzle

open access: yesAnnals of Business Administrative Science, 2013
From 1992 to 1994, BSD which was UNIX developed at the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), found itself involved in a license-related lawsuit filed by AT&T. At around the same time, the GNU project, which developed a UNIX-like free software

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Photosynthesis under far‐red light—evolutionary adaptations and bioengineering of light‐harvesting complexes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phototrophs evolved light‐harvesting systems adapted for efficient photon capture in habitats enriched in far‐red radiation. A subset of eukaryotic pigment‐binding proteins can absorb far‐red photons via low‐energy chlorophyll states known as red forms.

Automated validation of a computer operating system [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Programs apply selected input/output loads to complex computer operating system and measure performance of that system under such loads. Technique lends itself to checkout of computer software designed to monitor automated complex industrial ...

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...
