Pseudodifferential Operators and Linear Connections
Proceedings of the London Mathematical Society, 1997The aim of the paper is to construct a calculus of pseudodifferential operators (PDOs) on a smooth manifold \(M\) without using local coordinate systems. Instead we deal with linear connections \(\Gamma\) of \(M\). The fact that a linear connection \(\Gamma\) is a global object enables one to associate with a PDO its full symbol, which is a function on

Influence of transformer connections on operation
Proceedings of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1914In this paper the relative advantages and disadvantages in operation of the more important three-phase transformer connections are discussed. Three conditions of operation are given: First, normal; second, operation of a bank with one phase disabled; third, effect of line grounds on operation.

Partially Connected Operation. [PDF]
RPC latencies and other network-related delays can frustrate mobile users of a distributed file system. Disconnected operation helps, but fails to use networking opportunities to their full advantage. In this paper we describe partially connected operation, an extension of disconnected operation that resolves cache misses and preserves client cache ...

Spectral Doubling of Normal Operators and Connections with Antiunitary Operators
Integral Equations and Operator Theory, 2011Let \(H\) be a complex separable Hilbert space and let \(B(H)\) denote the algebra of all bounded linear operators on \(H\). An antilinear map \(J:H\to H\) is called antiunitary if it is onto and \((Jx,Jy)=(y,x)\) for every \(x,y\in H\). If, in addition, \(J^2=I\), then \(J\) is called a conjugation.

Matrix Operations Induced by Network Connections
SIAM Journal on Control, 1975The interconnection of two electrical networks is used to define an operation, called the router sum, on the corresponding impedance matrices. For the special case of the series connection, the router sum is the ordinary matrix sum ; for the parallel connection, the parallel sum is obtained [3].

An Operation Connected to a Young‐Type Inequality
Mathematische Nachrichten, 1992AbstractGiven two φ‐functions F and G we consider the largest φ‐function H = F ⊕ G such that the Young‐type inequality H(xy) ⩽ F(x) + G(y) holds for all x, y > 0. We prove an equivalence theorem for F ⊕ G with the best constants and, for the special case when F and G are log‐convex and satisfy a certain growth condition, a representation formula for

Operators with connected spectrum + compact operators = strongly irreducible operators
Science in China Series A: Mathematics, 1999Let \(L(H)\) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators acting on a complex, separable, infinite-dimensional Hilbert space \(H\). An operator \(T\in L(H)\) is said to be strongly irreducible if it does not commute with any nontrivial idempotents. It is proved that each operator \(T\in L(H)\) with connected spectrum can be represented as the sum of ...

Operational Activity and Connections
2019This chapter sheds light on the operational activities of “terrorist asylum-seekers” in Europe, as well as the nature of connections to foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs) and involvement in crime. Although connections are found to more than a dozen FTOs, the majority are linked to ISIS.
