Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Unbounded products of operators and connections to Dirac-type operators

open access: yesBulletin des Sciences Mathématiques, 2014
Let $A$ and $B$ be two densely defined unbounded closeable operators in a Hilbert space such that their unbounded operator products $AB$ and $BA$ are also densely defined. Then all four operators possess adjoints and we obtain new inclusion bounds for the operator product closures $\bar{A} \bar{B}$ and $\bar{AB}$ in terms of new relations among the ...

Transformation of Urban Sewer Network Management through GIS: Enhancing Operational Efficiency, Revenue Generation, and Environmental Sustainability [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
Effective management and expansion of sewer networks are vital for sustainable urban development and environmental protection. Traditional approaches, often reliant on manual surveys and assessments, suffer from inefficiencies, high labor costs, and ...

Numerical simulation of a mechanical flocculation process with multi-chambers in series

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2023
A mechanical flocculation system with multi-chambers in series is commonly used as the advanced phosphorus removal technology for wastewater treatment. This work aims to numerically investigate the inner states and overall performance of industrial-scale

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Reconstruction Plan of Small-Spacing Interchange Connection Sections on Expressway: A Case Study of Xinlong‒Gangkou Interchange on Zhongshan‒Jiangmen Expressway

open access: yesZhongwai Gonglu
The plan design for the small-spacing interchange connection on the expressway directly affects operational efficiency and driving safety. To achieve the conversion of traffic flow between different expressways, this study explored the reconstruction ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Motion Connected Operators For Image Sequences

open access: yes, 1996
This paper deals with motion-oriented connected operators. These operators eliminate from an original sequence the components that do not undergo a specific motion (defined as a filtering parameter). As any connected operator, they achieve a simplification of the original image while preserving the contour information of the components that have not be
