Uncertainty calculation in (operational) modal analysis

Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 2007
In (operational) modal analysis the modal parameters of a structure are identified from the response of that structure to (unmeasurable operational) perturbations. A key issue that remains to be solved is the calculation of uncertainty bounds on the estimated modal parameters. The present paper fills this gap.

Operational Modal Analysis of Transformer Windings

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2020
Broadband responses under random excitations can reflect the modal characteristics of a structure. This paper investigates the applicability of operational modal analysis (OMA) to extract modal parameters of transformer windings under random excitations.

Special issue on Operational Modal Analysis

Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 2010
Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) is not really a new discipline; it has been present from the very beginning of the development of modal testing and analysis going back to the sixties and early seventies.

Covariance regression for operational modal analysis

Journal of Vibration and Control, 2021
This article proposes a covariance regression procedure for operational modal analysis. The whole work is mainly twofold. On the one hand, two identities on the covariance are presented and they reveal that the covariance at different times is linearly dependent through both scalar and matrix coefficients. On the other hand, based on the two identities,

Modal-style operators in qualitative data analysis

2002 IEEE International Conference on Data Mining, 2002. Proceedings., 2003
We explore the usage of the modal possibility operator (and its dual necessity operator) in qualitative data analysis, and show that it-quite literally-complements the derivation operator of formal concept analysis; we also propose a new generalization of the rough set approximation operators.

Modal scaling in operational modal analysis using a finite element model

International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 2013
Abstract Operational modal analysis (OMA) is a technique that has been widely used on civil and mechanical structures in the last 10 years. As the force is unknown, mode shapes cannot be mass normalized from the responses used for modal identification.

Fully automated (operational) modal analysis

Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 2012
Abstract Modal parameter estimation requires a lot of user interaction, especially when parametric system identification methods are used and the modes are selected in a stabilization diagram. In this paper, a fully automated, generally applicable three-stage clustering approach is developed for interpreting such a diagram.

Uncertainties in an Application of Operational Modal Analysis

Operational modal analysis is widely used to estimate the mechanical properties of vibrating systems. The several available mathematical techniques, based upon different mathematical formulations, have the common feature that the unmeasured excitation is modeled as a random process specified by some probabilistic model.

Operational Modal Analysis for Automobile

2012
This paper presents the method of operational modal analysis, which is the identification of modal parameters by only using the response signals under operational conditions or ambient excitations. Giving the actual road spectrum as ambient excitations on vibration table, the operational modal analysis for automobile was conducted by test.

Operational modal analysis for Canton Tower

Smart Structures and Systems, 2012
The 610 m high Canton Tower (formerly named Guangzhou New Television Tower) is currently considered as a benchmark problem for structural health monitoring (SHM) of high-rise slender structures. In the benchmark study task I, a set of 24-hour ambient vibration measurement data has been available for the output-only system identification study.
