Operational Modal Analysis of a Historic Tower in Bari

In this paper, the latest identification techniques both in the time and in the frequency domains, are applied to the data obtained from the dynamic monitoring of the reinforced concrete tower of the Provincial Administration Building of Bari (Italy). The tower, dating back to the thirties of the 20th century and about 60 m tall, is not only a typical ...

Operational Modal Analysis of Aluminum Beams

Journal of the IEST, 2007
Natural frequencies obtained by modal analysis are important to engineers interested in predicting the dynamic behavior of structures. Traditional modal analysis involves impact testing or shaker testing, where response signal and input force are measured to obtain the transfer function. However, for large structures, input excitation force measurement

Operational modal analysis and earthquake engineering

2009
Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) techniques are powerful and versatile and applications in technical literature are becoming frequent. In the present paper a number of case studies will be reviewed in order to point out the effectiveness of such procedures in the earthquake engineering area.

Operational Modal Analysis of a Centrifugal Compressor in Field Operation

2018
Challenging applications, such as re-injection of natural gas and carbon dioxide for the oil and gas upstream market, continue to push centrifugal compressor original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to the edge of their experience working with ultra-high density fluids.

Operational Modal Analysis on Wind Turbine Hub

In this paper we present a dataset for Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) on a Vestas V112 wind turbine hub and illustrate how reliable Automatic OMA (AOMA) can be done on this structure. The chosen AOMA algorithm is called the Smallest Sphere Algorithm (SSA), and is based on the sliding filter stability diagram recently introduced by Olsen et al.

Operational modal analysis by thermoelasticity

2009
In this work the theoretical and practical possibility of using a new measurement technique, based on high speed thermographic acquisition systems, for the study of the dynamic response of objects has been demonstrated. This methodology has been named thermoelastic modal stress analysis (TMSA).

Subspace identification for operational modal analysis

2010
This chapter deals with the estimation of modal parameters from measured vibration data using subspace techniques. An in-depth review of subspace identification for operational modal analysis is provided. In addition, two recent developments are emphasised: the estimation of the probability density function of the modal parameters, and the use of an ...

Operational Modal Analysis on a Modified Helicopter

Two mounts were added to a helicopter making it possible to carry different payloads. To validate the structural effects of these modifications, modal tests were performed on-ground on the helicopter in its standard configuration as well as in its modified configuration with the added payloads. In addition, an in-flight test was performed to verify the
