Sexual dimorphism in the sonic system and otolith morphology of Neobythites gilli (Ophidiiformes)

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, 2018
AbstractAlthough males and females of many sound‐producing fish species may show differences at the level of the sonic apparatus, otoliths are usually species specific having intraspecific variation only if exposed to different environmental condition or in relation with the fish size.

First Hybrid Genome Assembly of the Teleost Fish Red Cusk-Eel (Genypterus chilensis) from Oxford Nanopore and Illumina Reads: Comparative Genomic Analysis of Genypterus Species and Long Non-Coding RNA Tissue-Specific Expression

open access: yesFishes
The red cusk-eel (Genypterus chilensis) is an endemic Chilean teleost fish of significant importance to fisheries and aquaculture; however, no reference genome is available for this species. In this study, we present the first hybrid genome assembly of G.

Unique morphologies of Encheliophis vermiops (Carapidae) with revised diagnosis of the genus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Encheliophis vermiops was first briefly described in 1990 on the basis of three specimens. This study validates this species and provides previously unrecorded useful characters to realise the identification: (1) the forward orientation of the palatine ...

First record of Grammonus robustus (Ophidiiformes: Bythitidae) from Indian waters

open access: yesMarine Biodiversity Records, 2014
This is the first record of Grammonus robustusfrom Indian waters. Five specimens measuring 132 –233 mm standard length were collected from the by-catch landed by a deep sea trawler from waters 150 to 200 m deep off the Tuticorin coast in the Gulf of Mannar. The detailed morphometric and meristic characters are compared to known G. robustus material.
