Provenance Reassessment of Eocene Turbidites, New Caledonia: Inferences for Obduction Models

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract Provenance of pre‐obduction Eocene turbidites from New Caledonia is used to better constrain their geodynamic context and inform debate on subduction polarity. Chemical compositions of detrital clinopyroxenes in arenites are compared against potential sources.

Restoring the Missing Late Cretaceous Arc of Iran

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract Persistent arc magmatism archives fluid transport and mantle partial melting in subduction zones. However, arc magmatism often exhibits different magmatic records along the strike, as seen in the Tethyan orogenic belt. During Neo‐Tethys subduction under Iran, there was pulsed arc magmatism with Middle Jurassic and Eocene magmatic flare‐ups ...

Chromitite deposits of Ufaley ultramafic massif (South Urals)

open access: yesGeoresursy
Data on the morphology, composition, textural and structural features of chromite deposits of the Ufaley ultramafic massif are presented. The mineralogical and compositional features of the host ultramafic rocks allow us to interpret them as depleted ...

Fossilized Endolithic Microorganisms in Pillow Lavas from the Troodos Ophiolite, Cyprus

open access: yesGeosciences, 2019
The last decade has revealed the igneous oceanic crust to host a more abundant and diverse biota than previously expected. These underexplored rock-hosted deep ecosystems dominated Earth’s biosphere prior to plants colonized land in the Ordovician,

Geochemical characteristics of ophiolitic rocks from the southern margin of the Sivas basin and their implications for the Inner Tauride Ocean, Central-Eastern Turkey

open access: yesGeodinamica Acta, 2017
Number of dismembered ophiolite bodies crop out between Sivas and Malatya on the top of the Eastern Tauride platform in the central-eastern Turkey. One of which at the southern margin of the Sivas basin in the Tecer Mountain area comprises melange and ...

Fore-arc ophiolite.

open access: yesJournal of Geography (Chigaku Zasshi), 1989
Recent results of dredging and drilling of inner trench slopes have revealed that the abundant ophiolitic rocks (fore-arc ophiolite) crop out in the Izu-Ogasawara, Mariana, Yap, Tonga, and Middle America regions. These are commonly composed of serpentinized peridotite, gabbro, and volcanics of basic to intermediate composition. The fore-arc ophiolite of

Ophiolites of Japan.

open access: yesJournal of Geography (Chigaku Zasshi), 1989
The Japanese ophiolites are divided into nappe type and melange type by their occurrences. The nappe type formed in a short period (a few 10Ma), and emplaced shortly after its igneous formation keeping its original igneous stratigraphy. They generally escaped from post-emplacement, high-pressure metamorphism. The melange type is a mixture of ophiolitic
