Ophiopogon sclerophyllus, a new species of Ophiopogon (Asparagaceae) from Guangxi, China

Phytotaxa, 2023
Ophiopogon sclerophyllus is described and illustrated as a new species from northwestern Guangxi, China. The new species can be distinguished from other Ophiopogon species by its roots with fusiform or oblong tubercles near middle or tip, thickly leathery leaf blade, widely opening flowers with recurved perianth segments.

Homoisoflavonoids from Ophiopogon japonicus Ker-Gawler

Phytochemistry, 2003
From the ethyl acetate extract of the tuberous roots of Ophiopogon japonicus (Liliaceae) eight known and five new homoisoflavonoidal compounds were isolated. The new compounds are 5,7-dihydroxy-8-methoxy-6-methyl-3-(2'-hydroxy-4'-methoxybenzyl)chroman-4-one (1), 7-hydroxy-5,8-dimethoxy-6-methyl-3-(2'-hydroxy-4'-methoxybenzyl)chroman-4-one (2), 5,7 ...

Cytotoxic steroidal saponins from Ophiopogon japonicus

Steroids, 2013
Four new steroidal saponins, named ophiopogonin P-S (1-4), together with eleven known ones (5-15) were isolated from the tuberous roots of Ophiopogon japonicus. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic and chemical analysis. Compounds 2-15 were evaluated for their cytotoxic activity against five human tumor cell lines (HepG2, HLE, BEL7402 ...

Antioxidative and immunological activities of ophiopogon polysaccharide liposome from the root of Ophiopogon japonicus

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2016
The antioxidative and immunoregulatory activities of ophiopogon polysaccharide liposome (OPL) were investigated. The results demonstrated that the radical-scavenging activity increased along with the increasing of OPL concentrations, and the scavenging capability of OPL was slightly stronger than ophiopogon polysaccharide (OP) in vitro. In vivo, OPL at

Activation of macrophages by the ophiopogon polysaccharide liposome from the root tuber of Ophiopogon japonicus

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2016
This study evaluated the immunomodulatory effects of ophiopogon polysaccharide liposome (OPL) on macrophages in vitro. The phagocytic activity, the secretion of nitric oxide (NO) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), the level of cytokines, chemokines and the expression of CD14 and MHC-II costimulatory molecules were measured. Results showed that
