Alcohol use in opioid agonist treatment [PDF]

open access: yesAddiction Science & Clinical Practice, 2016
Alcohol misuse among individuals receiving agonist treatment for an opioid use disorder is common and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. At present, though substantial research highlights effective strategies for the screening, diagnosis and management of an alcohol or opioid use disorder individually, less is known about how best ...

Opioid Agonist Treatment for Patients With Dependence on Prescription Opioids

open access: yesJAMA, 2017
Are different opioid agonist treatments (eg, methadone vs buprenorphine) associated with differences in efficacy for treating prescription opioid dependence, and is long-term maintenance of opioid agonist treatment associated with differences in efficacy compared with opioid taper or psychological treatments alone? For patients who are dependent on ...

k-Opioid diuretic effects of tifluadom, a benzodiazepine opioid agonist

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 1984
Abstract Tifluadom produced a dose-related (0·08–5 mg kg−1) diuresis in normally hydrated rats. This diuretic effect was antagonized by k-antagonist doses of naloxone and blocked by morphine administration. This is further in-vivo evidence that tifluadom is a fairly specific k-opioid agonist.

Research and development of κ opioid receptor agonists and δ opioid receptor agonists

open access: yesPharmacology & Therapeutics, 2020
Delta opioid delta receptor (DOP) agonists were expected to be analgesics and many researchers tried to develop the SNC80 derivatives. However, the derivatives were dropped at the stage of early clinical trials because of undesirable side effects and weak analgesia.

Use and misuse of opioid agonists in opioid addiction

open access: yesCleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine, 2017
Although methadone (an opioid agonist) and buprenorphine (a partial opioid agonist) have evidence to support their use in treating opioid use disorder, they remain misunderstood and underutilized. In this article, we outline the risks and benefits of using these drugs as maintenance therapy in opioid-dependent patients.

The role of opioid peptides in the regulation of secretin-stimulated bile secretion

open access: yesБюллетень сибирской медицины, 2006
Influence of intraperitoneal dalargin (dand m-opioid agonist), DADLE (d-opioid agonist), DAGO (m-opioid agonist) and U50488 (k-opioid agonist) on bile secretion which is stimulated by secretin was studied in sharp experiments on white rats.

Ligand-Specific Regulation of the Endogenous Mu-Opioid Receptor by Chronic Treatment with Mu-Opioid Peptide Agonist [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Since the discovery of the endomorphins (EM), the postulated endogenous peptide agonists of the mu-opioid receptors, several analogues have been synthesized to improve their binding and pharmacological profiles.
