INVESTIGATION OF INTERACTIONS BETWEEN DERMORPHIN ANALOGS AND µ-OPIOID RECEPTOR
Opioid receptors play the pain control function in the body. Most of the research is carried out to find the most effective analgesic. The earliest analgesic is morphine, however, unfortunately it has many side effects [Mizoguchi H et al.

Isolation and amino acid sequence analysis of a 4,000-dalton dynorphin from porcine pituitary [PDF]
A 4,000-dalton dynorphin was isolated from porcine pituitary. It has 32 amino acids (Mr = 3,986), with the previously described heptadecapeptide (now called dynorphin A) at its amino terminus and a related tridecapeptide, dynorphin B, at its carboxyl ...

In Mammals, opioid peptides are involved in various physiological processes including the reproductive function. The knowledge of the distribution of beta-endorphin, one of opioid peptides in Reptiles ovaries is very limited. Therefore, the present study

Pharmacogenetics of analgesic drugs [PDF]
• Individual variability in pain perception and differences in the efficacy of analgesic drugs are complex phenomena and are partly genetically predetermined.

We present a photoswitchable peptide conjugate which exhibits isomerism‐dependent self‐assembly: the planar trans‐isomer assembles into well‐ordered nanofibers while the non‐planar cis‐isomer yields disordered aggregates. Our study offers a direct visualization on the effects of structure formation inside living cells.

Aims Insomnia is a common sleep disorder, affecting up to 20% of the world population and adversely impacting productivity, health, and overall well‐being. Although pharmacologic options exist to treat insomnia, the health‐related quality of life for patients who are prescribed hypnotics is no higher than for those who are not, revealing a significant ...

Lipo-endomorphin-1 derivatives with systemic activity against neuropathic pain without producing constipation. [PDF]
To enhance the drug-like properties of the endogenous opioid peptide endomorphin-1 (1 = Tyr-Pro-Trp-Phe-NH(2)), the N-terminus of the peptide was modified with 2-aminodecanoic acid, resulting in compound 3.

Neuropathic pain is one of the most disabling forms of chronic pain and it is characterized by hyperalgesia and allodynia linked to an aberrant processing of pain transmission and to neuroinflammation.

Distinct roles of exogenous opioid agonists and endogenous opioid peptides in the peripheral control of neuropathy-triggered heat pain [PDF]
Neuropathic pain often results from peripheral nerve damage, which can involve immune response. Local leukocyte-derived opioid peptides or exogenous opioid agonists inhibit neuropathy-induced mechanical hypersensitivity in animal models.
