Acquired resistance to Opisthorchis viverrini in the hamster

Two groups of ten hamsters received a primary challenge of five Opisthorchis viverrini metacercariae intragastrically (Groups I and III) and a third group was left untreated (Group II). 90 days after the primary challenge Groups I and II were given a further 50 metacercariae.

Treatment of Opisthorchis viverrini with mebendazole.

Thirty-six hospitalized Thais (21 males, 15 females, 9 to 63 years of age) with Opisthorchis viverrini infection were treated with mebendazole in dosages of 20 mg/kg body weight for 4 weeks and 30 mg/kg body weight for 3 or 4 weeks.
