Optical disks in optical computing

COMPCON Spring '91 Digest of Papers, 2002
Two optical-disk based architectures are described. The first is an optical implementation of the radial basis function approach for handwritten character recognition. The second system is an optoelectronic neural network implementation with electronic neurons, electronic synapses, and optical-disk-based weight storage.

Tilted Optic Disks

Survey of Ophthalmology, 2010
Tilted optic disks are a common finding in the general population. An expression of anomalous human development, the tilted disk appears rotated and tilted along its axes. Visual sequelae described with tilted optic disks include myopia, astigmatism, visual field loss, deficient color vision, and retinal abnormalities.

Melanocytomas of the optic disk

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2004
To evaluate the various forms of clinical presentation, the potential of growth, the risk of functional loss and the possibility of malignant transformation of optic disk melanocytomas in European patients.Retrospective observational case control study.Evaluation of 37 cases of optic disk melanocytomas identified in the computer files of the ocular ...

Varix of the Optic Disk

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1978
A 74-year-old woman had a saccular dilatation, presumably of the central retinal vein, on the optic nerve head. The lesion caused no symptoms, and over a four-month period showed (vidence of thrombosis and stagnation within it. The lesion caused no interference with either the arterial or venous circulation of the retina.

PSEUDODUPLICATION OF THE OPTIC DISK

RETINAL Cases & Brief Reports, 2011
The purpose of this study was to report a case of a chorioretinal coloboma mimicking a second optic disk in an asymptomatic 12-year-old boy. This is a case report. An asymptomatic 12-year-old boy presented with a chorioretinal coloboma of the right eye giving the impression of a second optic disk.

Optic disk pits and optic disk pit maculopathy: A review

Survey of Ophthalmology, 2019
Optic disk pit, one of the optic disk cavitary anomalies, is generally congenital and unilateral and occurs equally in males and females. Optic disk pit maculopathy is characterized by intraretinal and subretinal fluid at the macula, causing visual deterioration. The origin of the macular fluid and the mechanism of transition to the subretinal space in

Is the Optic Disk Swollen?

Postgraduate Medicine, 1975
What appears to be a swollen optic disk could be evidence of either serious or benign disease, or it could be a normal disk in a farsighted patient.

Characterization of optical disks

Applied Optics, 1982
One key element of an optical storage system is the recording medium. An important part of the successful development of media technology are the various techniques for characterization of the media. In this paper, several techniques are described with spatial resolutions ranging from millimeters to microns.

Glioma of the Optic Disk

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1963
Gliomas of the optic nerve are uncommon, although they are seen occasionally in patients with neurofibromatosis. 1,2 Gliomas of the optic nerve at the disk have been reported, 3 but they are most often found in the orbital portions of the nerve. Gliomas specifically of the optic disk and associated with neurofibromatosis have been reported in only ...

Disk caching with an optical ring

Applied Optics, 2000
We propose a simple extension to the optical network of a scalable multiprocessor that optimizes page swap outs. More specifically, we propose to extend the network with an optical ring that not only transfers swapped-out pages between the local memories and the disks of the multiprocessor but also acts as a systemwide write cache for these pages. This
