A functional architecture of optic flow in the inferior parietal lobule of the behaving monkey. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2007
The representation of navigational optic flow across the inferior parietal lobule was assessed using optical imaging of intrinsic signals in behaving monkeys.

The accuracy of object motion perception during locomotion

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2023
Human observers are capable of perceiving the motion of moving objects relative to the stationary world, even while undergoing self-motion. Perceiving world-relative object motion is complicated because the local optical motion of objects is influenced ...

Sparse Coding Predicts Optic Flow Specificities of Zebrafish Pretectal Neurons

open access: yes, 2018
Zebrafish pretectal neurons exhibit specificities for large-field optic flow patterns associated with rotatory or translatory body motion. We investigate the hypothesis that these specificities reflect the input statistics of natural optic flow ...

A Neural Model of Visually Guided Steering, Obstacle Avoidance, and Route Selection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A neural model is developed to explain how humans can approach a goal object on foot while steering around obstacles to avoid collisions in a cluttered environment. The model uses optic flow from a 3D virtual reality environment to determine the position

Visual pursuit behavior in mice maintains the pursued prey on the retinal region with least optic flow

open access: yeseLife, 2021
Mice have a large visual field that is constantly stabilized by vestibular ocular reflex (VOR) driven eye rotations that counter head-rotations. While maintaining their extensive visual coverage is advantageous for predator detection, mice also track and

Optic flow induced nystagmus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry, 2005
A new form of nystagmus is described in this paper: optic flow induced nystagmus (OFN). Optic field flow, for example when driving or viewing films on a large screen, triggered non-fatiguable upbeat nystagmus. This type of nystagmus could not be induced by vestibular stimuli, positioning, or self motion.

A Bio-inspired Collision Avoidance Model Based on Spatial Information Derived from Motion Detectors Leads to Common Routes. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2015
Avoiding collisions is one of the most basic needs of any mobile agent, both biological and technical, when searching around or aiming toward a goal.

Representation of vestibular and visual cues to self-motion in ventral intraparietal cortex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Convergence of vestibular and visual motion information is important for self-motion perception. One cortical area that combines vestibular and optic flow signals is the ventral intraparietal area (VIP).

Personalized Selumetinib Dosing in Pediatric Neurofibromatosis Type 1: Insights From a Pilot Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate selumetinib exposure using therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) in pediatric patients with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) and plexiform neurofibromas (PN), assess interpatient pharmacokinetic variability, and explore the relationship between drug exposure, clinical response, and adverse effects.
