Schwann Cell Synthesized Cholesterol Orchestrates Peripheral Nerve Regeneration via Structural and IGF1‐Dependent Signaling Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that Schwann cell FDFT1‐mediated cholesterol synthesis is essential for peripheral nerve regeneration via dual roles: as a structural component for myelin and as a metabolic signal that upregulates IGF1. IGF1 promotes axonal growth through paracrine action and enhances Schwann cell differentiation/ myelination via an intrinsic IGF1R ...

Intelligent Soft Opto‐Magnetic Robot for Minimally Invasive Interventional Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An intelligent soft opto‐magnetic (iSOM) robot is developed that integrates remote magnetic actuation, skin‐mimic tactile perception, and photothermal ablation in a near‐millimeter‐scale design. It enables precise intraluminal navigation and localized ablation while providing real‐time optical feedback to support safe and accurate minimally invasive ...

Ultrasonographic measurement of optic nerve sheath diameter in normal dogs

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Science, 2003
This study was carried out to assess the feasibility of ultrasonographic measurements of the optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) in normal dogs and evaluate the effect of breed, sex, body weight and age on biometry of ONSD. The ONSDs were evaluated in 15 dogs (10-50 months old) with normal eye (7 Yorkshire terrier and 8 Maltese).

Regulating Zinc Anode Interface with an Environmental Biomass‐Derived Additive for Long‐Lifespan Aqueous Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biomass‐derived additive synthesized from chitin, 3‐acetylamino‐5‐acetylfuran (3A5AF), resolves key stability issues such as uncontrolled dendrite growth, hydrogen evolution reaction, and corrosion of zinc anodes by reconstructing the solvation structure of the electrolyte and protecting the anode interface. ABSTRACT Aqueous zinc‐based batteries face

Intraocular Pressure Correlates with Optic Nerve Sheath Diameter in Patients with Normal Tension Glaucoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
PURPOSE: 1. Identify differences in optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) as an indirect measure of intracranial pressure (ICP) in glaucoma patients and a healthy population. 2. Identify variables that may correlate with ONSD in primary open-angle glaucoma (

Microendovascular Neural Recording from Cortical and Deep Vessels with High Precision and Minimal Invasiveness

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Intravascular electroencephalography (ivEEG) using micro‐intravascular electrodes was developed. Cortical‐vein ivEEG showed a higher signal‐to‐noise ratio and finer spatial resolution of somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) than superior sagittal sinus ivEEG, and deep‐vein ivEEG captured clear visual evoked potentials.

Cervical Hyperextension Causes Acute Cerebral Congestion in Non-Anesthetized Healthy Adults: An Observational Self-Controlled Design Study

open access: yesMedicina
Background and Objectives: Severe complications associated with cervical hyperextension during general anesthesia have been reported. The question is whether some of the cerebral/spinal ischemic complications could be partially related to the position ...

Phase‐Change Alloys Enable Localized Reversible Stiffening and Actuation in Steerable Eversion Tip‐Growing Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work presents a tip‐growing eversion robot that uses phase‐changing alloys for reversible stiffening and localized actuation, achieving 43× stiffness modulation, 15× force amplification, and segmental steering. The system enables precise navigation and force delivery in constrained, tortuous pathways.
