Optical biosensing systems for a biological living body

open access: yesView, 2023
With the development of technology, biosensors are increasingly used in the biomedical field. Due to the high sensitivity of optical signals, good stability, high signal‐to‐noise ratio, and different spectral characteristics of different analytes ...

A Biosensor for Urea from Succinimide-Modified Acrylic Microspheres Based on Reflectance Transduction

open access: yesSensors, 2011
New acrylic microspheres were synthesised by photopolymerisation where the succinimide functional group was incorporated during the microsphere preparation.

Terahertz Biosensor Based on Mode Coupling between Defect Mode and Optical Tamm State with Dirac Semimetal

open access: yesBiosensors, 2022
Bulk Dirac semimetal (BDS) has emerged as a “3D graphene” material for the development of optical devices in the past few years. In this study, a BDS-based tunable highly sensitive terahertz (THz) biosensor is proposed by using a Dirac semimetal/Bragg ...

Flip-chip distributed MEMS transmission lines (DMTLs) for biosensing applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Design and characterization of a flip-chip distributed MEMS transmission line (DMTL) are presented. The concept of using this DMTL as a biosensor is then introduced. Radio frequency experiments on the DMTL loaded with biosamples have been conducted using

Optical DNA Biosensor Based on Square-Planar Ethyl Piperidine Substituted Nickel(II) Salphen Complex for Dengue Virus Detection

open access: yesSensors, 2018
A sensitive and selective optical DNA biosensor was developed for dengue virus detection based on novel square-planar piperidine side chain-functionalized N,N′-bis-4-(hydroxysalicylidene)-phenylenediamine-nickel(II), which was able to intercalate via ...

Developing implantable optical biosensors

open access: yesTrends in Biotechnology, 2005
Nanobiotechnologists are developing devices that can measure specific enzymes and proteins. These devices are expected to detect single enzyme or protein molecules accurately, providing highly sensitive biosensing applications. A recent study by Strano and co-workers shows that single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) hold great promise as implantable ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Anchorage‐independent and faster growth in clonal population from UV‐irradiated NER‐deficient cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UV‐irradiated cells expressing a DDB2 mutant protein unable to interact with PCNA (DDB2PCNA‐) form clones able to grow without anchorage. Different experimental approaches reveal heterogeneity in cell cycle regulation and drug response within these clones, emphasizing the crucial role of the DDB2‐PCNA interaction in preventing cellular transformation ...
