Resonatorless optical bistability in transmission of thin semiconductor film

open access: yesMoldavian Journal of the Physical Sciences, 2005
The optical bistability phenomenon in the steady-state light transmission by a thin semiconductor film is studied taking into account two-pulse two-photon excitation of biexcitons from the ground state of the crystal.

Nonlinear optical response of a 2D quantum dot supercrystal

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
We investigate theoretically the nonlinear optical response of a two-dimensional supercrystal comprized of semiconductor quantum dots. An isolated quantum dot is modeled as a three-level ladder-like system with ground, one-exciton, and biexciton states ...

Optical Bistability in Active Devices [PDF]

open access: yesOptical Bistability, 1988
Optical bistability in both FP and DFB type LDs is an interesting subject because they have optical gain. Optical gain results in advantages such as low switching optical power, high ON-OFF ratio, and large fan-out. Bistable LDs can also operate faster than one nanosecond.

Low-threshold optical bistability with multilayer graphene-covering Otto configuration

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we propose a modified Otto configuration to realize tunable and low-threshold optical bistability at terahertz frequencies by attaching multilayer graphene sheets to a nonlinear substrate interface. Our work demonstrates that the threshold

Dispersive optical bistability in unidirectional ring cavity

open access: yes, 2003
The models of dispersive optical bistability in unidirectional ring cavity yield transmitted intensity as a function of input intensity with additional parameters /mirror reflectivity and phase shift/.

Unified Steep‐Slope Switching and Non‐Volatile Memory in a Complementarily Stabilized van der Waals Ferroelectric Transistor

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
We present a van der Waals FeNC‐FET that simultaneously achieves sub‐60 mV/dec steep switching and non‐volatile memory within a single transistor. A CIPS/h‐BN/α‐In2Se3 bi‐ferroelectric gate stack enables a stabilized negative‐capacitance state in FE1 while maintaining the bistable polarization of FE2.

Mapping structure–property relationships in a 6‐oxo‐verdazyl radical by variable pressure crystallography and density functional theory

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section B, EarlyView.
For the first time, the structural response to pressure of a verdazyl radical crystal has been studied. Computational modelling revealed changes in electronic and magnetic properties as a result of a structural phase transition. The response of the 1,5‐tolyl‐3‐phenyl‐6‐oxo‐verdazyl radical (pTolOV) to pressure in the crystalline state has been ...

Perceptual Priors Update Contextual Feedback Processing in V1

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Contextual information and prior knowledge facilitate perceptual processing, improving our recognition of even distorted or obstructed visual inputs. As a result, neuronal processing elicited by identical sensory inputs varies depending on the context in which we encounter those inputs.
