Handheld optical coherence tomography angiography

open access: yesBiomedical Optics Express, 2017
We developed a handheld optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) system using a 100-kHz swept-source laser. The handheld probe weighs 0.4 kg and measures 20.6 × 12.8 × 4.6 cm3. The system has dedicated features for handheld operation. The probe is equipped with a mini iris camera for easy alignment. Real-time display of the en face OCT and cross-

Influence of the arterial elastic component on the response to balloon angioplasty in femoral arteries of a healthy porcine model

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study evaluates the role of elastin in vascular response 28 days after balloon angioplasty using uncoated and paclitaxel‐coated balloons in a healthy porcine model. The results show higher elastin content in external femoral arteries, which is inversely correlated with vascular injury, inflammation, smooth muscle cell loss, proteoglycan and fibrin

High-resolution polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography and optical coherence tomography angiography for zebrafish skin imaging

open access: yesJournal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences, 2021
Zebrafish is an important animal model, which is used to study development, pathology, and genetic research. The zebrafish skin model is widely used in cutaneous research, and angiogenesis is critical for cutaneous wound healing.

Advances in Doppler optical coherence tomography and angiography [PDF]

open access: yesTranslational Biophotonics, 2019
AbstractSince the first demonstration of Doppler optical coherence tomography (OCT) in 1997, several functional extensions of Doppler OCT have been developed, including velocimetry, angiogram, and optical coherence elastography. These functional techniques have been widely used in research and clinical applications, particularly in ophthalmology. Here,

Coronary Plaque Characteristics Assessed by Optical Coherence Tomography and Plasma Lipoprotein(a) Levels in Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] is associated with increased cardiovascular risk, but its influence on plaque characteristics at optical coherence tomography (OCT) evaluation is not fully understood. Aims This study seeks to explore the impact of Lp(a) levels on plaque morphology as assessed by OCT in a very high‐risk subset of patients ...

Master slave en-face OCT/SLO [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Master Slave optical coherence tomography (MS-OCT) is an OCT method that does not require resampling of data and can be used to deliver en-face images from several depths simultaneously.

The Impact of Underlying Plaque Characteristics Following the Third‐Generation Resorbable Magnesium Scaffold Implantation: An Intravascular OCT Assessment up to 12‐Months

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Third‐generation resorbable magnesium scaffold (RMS) was developed with stronger mechanical properties and thinner struts compared to its predecessor. This study aimed to assess the influence of the OCT‐derived underlying plaque characteristics on in‐scaffold late lumen loss (LLL) in patients treated with RMS up to 12‐months ...
