Nanophotonic Devices for Optical Interconnect [PDF]
We review recent progress in nanophotonic devices for compact optical interconnect networks. We focus on microdisk-laser-based transmitters and discuss improved design and advanced functionality including all-optical wavelength conversion and flip-flops. Next we discuss the fabrication uniformity of the passive routing circuits and their thermal tuning.

Microfluidic Optical Devices [PDF]
Microfluidic optical devices (MOD) are the emerging technology that combines today’s microfluidics technology with the optics. However, MOD can be classified as the integration of these two technologies rather than combination of them. This integration provides a new approach for using microfluidics for control and manipulation of samples and optics ...

Power waves and scattering parameters in magneto-inductive systems
Difficulties arise in the definition of power flow in transmission-line systems with a complex propagation constant. These were resolved by Kurokawa using quantities known as “power waves,” which contain both voltage and current terms and correctly ...

A chip-integrated coherent photonic-phononic memory
Optical storage implementations based on optomechanical resonator are limited to one wavelength. Here, exploiting stimulated Brillouin scattering, the authors demonstrate a coherent optical memory based on a planar integrated waveguide, which can operate

Polarization-Maintaining Single-Frequency Fiber Laser With Quadruple Wavelengths at the C-Band
In this paper, a polarization-maintaining quad-wavelength (QW) single-frequency fiber laser (SFFL) at the C-band with the novel and compact structure is demonstrated. Applying the rate equations and multiple coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations,
