Terahertz driven amplification of coherent optical phonons in GaAs coupled to metallic dog-bone resonators [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
Two-dimensional terahertz spectroscopy on an AlAs/GaAs nanostructure covered by field-enhancing dog-bone resonators shows signatures of coherent optical phonon amplification.

Surface acoustic wave modulation of single photon emission from GaN/InGaN nanowire quantum dots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
On-chip quantum information processing requires controllable quantum light sources that can be operated on-demand at high-speeds and with the possibility of in-situ control of the photon emission wavelength and its optical polarization properties.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Spatial confinement of laser-induced plasma by laser-induced and obstacle-reflected shock wave and its effect on optical emission of laser-induced plasma

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
The laser-induced plasma (LIP) and the shock wave generated by pulsed laser ablation of a graphite target in air and reflected by a flat obstacle were examined by optical emission spectroscopy and probe beam deflection measurements.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Comprehensive characterization of nitrogen-related defect states in β-Ga2O3 using quantitative optical and thermal defect spectroscopy methods

open access: yesAPL Materials
This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the dominant deep acceptor level in nitrogen-doped beta-phase gallium oxide (β-Ga2O3), elucidating and reconciling the hole emission features observed in deep-level optical spectroscopy (DLOS).

Infrared Observations of The Millisecond Pulsar Binary J1023+0038: Evidence for Short-Term Nature of Its Interacting Phase in 2000--2001 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We report our multi-band infrared (IR) imaging of the transitional millisecond pulsar system J1023+0038, a rare pulsar binary known to have an accretion disk in 2000--2001.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Analysis of Aloe Vera Plasma Parameters Using Optical Emission Spectroscopy

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Physics
Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) is used to analyze the main properties of aloe vera plasma, where the plasma is generated using a plasma jet. Several parameters of the plasma are measured, including electron temperature (Te), electron density (ne ...
