Distributed feedback optical parametric oscillator

Summaries of Papers Presented at the Lasers and Electro-Optics. CLEO '02. Technical Diges, 2003
Summary form only given. We have demonstrated the DFB periodically poled LiNbO/sub 3/ (PPLN) optical parametric oscillator (OPO) by writing a photorefractive grating in a PPLN. The detail properties are under investigating now. The DFB PPLN OPO may lead to novel applications in gas sensing and fiber communications.

Optical Feedback Interferometry

2006
This chapter presents an overview of the self-mixing effect in lasers for sensing purposes. The basic theory of the self-mixing effect is presented for a weak feedback. The influence of a moderate and a strong feedback are then discussed before examining some specific cases: • multiple optical feedback due to an asymmetric external cavity • multiple ...

Frequency stabilized lasers: optical feedback effects

Applied Optics, 1981
Two simple systems have been described for stabilizing the frequency of a 2-mW internal mirror 633-nm He-Ne laser. This paper shows that small amounts of optical feedback will seriously reduce their performance. Their relative sensitivity to optical feedback from a plane mirror is compared.

Optical linear feedback shift register

2011 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe and 12th European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO EUROPE/EQEC), 2011
Linear feedback shift registers (LFSRs) are essential components of communications systems such as pseudo random bit sequence (PRBS) generators, convolutional encoders, scramblers and randomizers [1, 2]. Fig.1 (left) shows a LFSR scheme in which the XOR gate is operated among two tapped bits i and i+k within the shift register. The result bit is fed to

Optical Feedback For Iterative Processing

SPIE Proceedings, 1988
Iterative processing techniques can often provide useful solutions to problems, especially problems of inversion, when deterministic solutions are impracticable or too costly. These iterative techniques usually require a feedback path so some measure of the output can affect an input of the system in order to guide it towards the correct solution. This

Optical Processing in Feedback Systems

1978
Up to now the major number of optical system for image processing is based on the open circuit principle. At the same time it is known that practically all electronic circuits more or less complicated consist of closed circuit, i.e. feedback circuits especially stricing it is demonstrated in analog computers which are based on the use of operation ...

XLI. Optical Feedback in Photomultipliers†

Journal of Electronics and Control, 1957
ABSTRACT Dark current induced electro-fluorescence in commercially available 1P21 and 931A photomultipliers and its optical feedback to the photo -cathode were investigated visually and electronically. Methods of demonstrating the feedback effects include a photomultiplier as a detector looking into the tube under test and the increase in dark current ...
