Kovacs-like memory effect mediated fiber Bragg grating: resembling a silica quipu
In antiquity, civilizations employed stone carvings and knotted quipu cords for information preservation. Modern telecommunications rely on optical fibers - silica glass strands engineered for light transmission - yet their capacity as archival media ...

Parity-time symmetry in wavelength space within a single spatial resonator
Most conventional PT-symmetric systems contain two physically separated modes. Here the authors proposed a PT-symmetric microwave optoelectronic oscillator, where the gain and loss modes are confined in a single spatial resonator, resulting in an ...

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

This work shows that the mechanical performance of multimaterial digital light processing (DLP) printed thermoset composites is governed by resin compatibility and interfacial design rather than spatial patterning alone. Brittle and ductile resin combinations produced premature interfacial failure, while graded interfaces and mechanically compatible ...

This article presents an experimental and numerical modal investigation of composite sandwich structures using surfboards as model systems. By comparing different core materials and reinforcement strategies, the study demonstrates how local stiffeners influence vibrational response and introduce characteristic modal features, highlighting modal ...

X‐ray computed tomography reveals how process‐induced defects evolve from green to sintered states in Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)‐manufactured 17‐4PH stainless steel. Internal porosity, weakest cross‐sections, and fracture locations show strong correlation with tensile performance, demonstrating the potential of computed tomography (CT)‐based ...

Recent Advances in Fiber-Optic Sensors for the Detection of Inorganic Acidic Gases
An acidic gas is an important basic chemical raw material used for synthesizing fertilizers, insecticides, explosives, dyes, and salts. Alternatively, inorganic acidic gases that leak into the air have harmful effects on the human health, infrastructure,

Distributed acoustic sensing with Michelson interferometer demodulation
The distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) has been extensively studied and widely used. A distributed acoustic sensing system based on the unbalanced Michelson interferometer with phase generated carrier (PGC) demodulation was designed and tested.
