Solar flare optical, neutron and gamma-ray emission

Solar Physics, 1969
It has previously been suggested that the energy for the optical emission of solar flares was provided by ionization losses of accelerated particles in the flares. We show that nuclear interaction of these particles would also produce fluxes of secondary neutrons and gamma rays detectable at the earth.

Optical observations of flare-productive flux emergence

2005
The optical observations of the relationship between emerging magnetic fluxes and flares are reviewed and the characteristics essential to the flare-productive emerging flux regions are studied. Examining several essential parameters, i.e. location of emergence, orientation of bipolar axis, growth rate and magnetic shear development, we conclude that ...
