Deep Learning–Assisted Differentiation of Four Peripheral Neuropathies Using Corneal Confocal Microscopy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Peripheral neuropathies contribute to patient disability but may be diagnosed late or missed altogether due to late referral, limitation of current diagnostic methods and lack of specialized testing facilities. To address this clinical gap, we developed NeuropathAI, an interpretable deep learning–based multiclass classification ...

Propose of heel-strike and toe-off frame detection from gait video with optical flow and edge detection

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu
We expect that gait will be useful information for detecting wandering and managing the health of elderly people utilizing a monitoring support robot. However, some kind of sensor is needed to extract pedestrian gait features.

Prediction of Myasthenia Gravis Worsening: A Machine Learning Algorithm Using Wearables and Patient‐Reported Measures

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare disorder characterized by fluctuating muscle weakness with potential life‐threatening crises. Timely interventions may be delayed by limited access to care and fragmented documentation. Our objective was to develop predictive algorithms for MG deterioration using multimodal telemedicine data ...

An Optical Flow- and Machine Learning-Based Fall Recognition Model for Stair Accessing Service Robots

open access: yesMathematics
One of the reasons for the lack of commercial staircase service robots is the risk and severe impact of them falling down the stairs. Thus, the development of robust fall damage mitigation mechanisms is important for the commercial adoption of staircase ...

On discontinuous optical flow

open access: yesCOMPUTING AND INFORMATICS, 2012
This paper deals with an analysis of image motion in frequency space with respect to motion discontinuities and surface translucence. The frequency structure of motion discontinuities due to occlusion is derived under models of constant and linear optical flow. Authors demonstrate its various geometrical properties.

Olink Proteomics Analysis Reveals Heterogeneous Responses to FcRn Blockade in Anti‐AChR Antibody‐Positive Myasthenia Gravis: FGF‐19 as a Novel Biomarker

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to systematically observe the clinical manifestations, immune cell subsets, and dynamic changes in serological indicators in patients with myasthenia gravis (MG) before and after efgartigimod (EFG) treatment. Methods We analyzed the baseline data, laboratory parameters, and lymphocyte subset proportions in MG ...

Evaluation of the Efficacy and Safety of Satralizumab in a Pregnant NMOSD Patient With AQP4/MOG‐IgG Dual Seropositive: A Case Report

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD) is a chronic autoimmune neuroinflammatory disease, typically characterized by antibodies against aquaporin 4 (AQP4‐IgG) or myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG‐IgG). Simultaneous seropositivity for both antibodies in a single patient is exceedingly rare.

Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.
