In order to reduce optical beat interference (OBI) in an optical frequency-hopping code division multiple access (FH-CDMA) network, we propose the application of coherence multiplexing (CM). Since the CM technique achieves multiplexing by using time delays exceeding the coherence time of the light sources, the crosstalk between CM channels depends on ...

Chip-Level Detection in Optical Frequency Hopping Code Division Multiple Access
IEICE Transactions on Fundamentals of Electronics, Communications and Computer Sciences, 2006In this paper we propose a chip-level receiver for optical frequency hopping code-division multiple-access (FH-OCDMA) systems. The proposed chip-level receiver for FH-OCDMA consists of an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG), and photo-detector (PD) for each mark chip, and uses the principles of the chip-level receiver. We analyze the error rate performance

Optical time‐spreading/frequency‐hopping differential OOK–CDMA system
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2001AbstractA new optical time‐spreading/frequency‐hopping differential CDMA (TS/FH CDMA) system is proposed in this paper. It uses new codes called prime/OOC codes as address codes. Fast optical frequency hopping and large capacity can be implemented with the system. By assigning two orthogonal codes for one user, and using these two codes to encode 1 and

Analysis of an optical frequency-hop encoder with strain-tuned Bragg gratings
Bragg Gratings, Photosensitivity, and Poling in Glass Fibers and Waveguides: Applications and Fundamentals, 1997In optical communication systems, fiber gratings have been used to perform chromatic dispersion compensation, gain equalization, pulse compression, soliton pulse shaping, add/drop switching and channel filtering for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems [1,2]. Fiber optic frequency hopping multiple access communication system
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 1991A network architecture is presented for a fiber optic frequency hopping multiple access (FO-FHMA) communication system. It is shown that the network, in addition to providing an independent (from other users) and asynchronous access to the optical fiber channel for the network subscribers, effectively utilizes the available bandwidth when the optical ...

Performance of packet-switched fiber-optic frequency-hopping multiple-access networks
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1995A packet-switched frequency-hopping multiple-access (FO-FHMA) communication system based on bus topology is proposed and investigated. In this arrangement, access to the optical medium for the network subscribers is provided via frequency-hopping (FH).

Carrier frequency hopping for optical pulse transmission in dispersion-managed fiber links
Nonlinear Guided Waves and Their Applications, 2002We propose a chirped retum-to-zero transmission format, combining wavelength conversion with dispersion management. Periodically varying the pulse’s carrier frequency at optimal points, we reduce the impairments of third-order dispersion and we mitigate the timing jitter.

Design and scalability analysis of a fast-frequency-hopping optical CDMA switch architecture
Journal of Optical Networking, 2004We present what we believe to be a novel wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) access switch architecture. The architecture design of the switch is based on an optical code-division multiple access (OCDMA) with a fast-frequency-hopping (FFH) technique.

Gigahertz frequency hopping in an optical phase-locked loop for Raman lasers
Chinese Physics BRaman lasers are essential in atomic physics, and the development of portable devices has posed requirements for time-division multiplexing of Raman lasers. We demonstrate an innovative gigahertz frequency hopping approach of a slave Raman laser within an optical phase-locked loop (OPLL), which finds practical application in an atomic gravimeter, where
