Optical Correlation of Fresnel Images
Applied Optics, 1968A real-time optical correlator is described that uses an ultrasonic light modulator (ULM) in conjunction with an amplitude mask or replica of the signal to achieve linear, phase-coherent detection, without need for high quality optics. When the mask is placed in a Fresnel image plane of the ULM, optimum correlation and collinear heterodyning are ...

An Optical Image Correlator For Robotic Applications
SPIE Proceedings, 1989The goal of cost effective, high performance optical systems capable of pattern matching tasks has fuelled research for over two decades. It is only recently with the introduction of novel optical/electronic architectures that such systems are becoming viable.

Images of the optic nerve: anatomic-CT correlation
American Journal of Roentgenology, 1980The course of the intraorbital part of the optic nerve, as demonstrated on anatomic sections in various planes, is correlated with the appearance of the nerve in computed tomographic (CT) images. Discrepancies between the anatomic and CT appearance are analyzed and discussed.

Optical correlation: influence of the coding of the input image
Applied Optics, 1994We analyze the influence of different optical coding methods of the input image in optical correlators. The noise robustness and the optical efficiency of the correlator are investigated. We show in particular that the signal-to-noise ratio is greatly dependent on the coding method. It decreases drastically for large phase modulation.

Image distance transforms that use optical correlation
Applied Optics, 2000The image distance transform is a time-consuming global operation. We use optical correlation for the fast computation of binary image distance transforms. A joint transform correlator is proposed to implement the algorithm that accommodates the morphological threshold-decomposition concept.

Digital Image Correlation–Based Optical Coherence Elastography [PDF]
Optical coherence elastography (OCE) provides deformation or material properties, mapping of soft tissue. We aim to develop a robust speckle tracking OCE technique with improved resolution and accuracy. A digital image correlation (DIC)-based OCE technique was developed by combining an advanced DIC algorithm with optical coherence tomography (OCT ...
