Biopolymer-based material used in optical image correlation
Applied Optics, 2008We investigate the possible application of a modified deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)-dye system for dynamic processing of optical information, e.g., optical correlation. The system consists of a biopolymeric matrix made of DNA substituted with the cationic surfactant molecule cetyltrimethyl-ammonium chloride (CTMA) and doped with a photochromic Disperse ...

High-resolution optical correlation imaging in a scattering medium
Optics Letters, 2001An optical correlation setup is used to image transparent objects through scattering media, and 10-mum longitudinal and 2.5-mum transverse resolution are achieved. Spectral-bandwidth sampling of the light source is made possible by a tunable dye laser and leads to signal enhancement as a result of sampling interferogram filtering.

Optical Image Correlation With A Binary Spatial Light Modulator
Optical Engineering, 1984The use of a binary, magneto-optic spatial light modulator as an input device and as a spatial filter in a VanderLugt correlator is investigated. The statistics of the correlation that is obtained when the input image or the spatial filter is thresholded are estimated.

Optical image plane correlator for ambiguity surface computation
Applied Optics, 1979An optical image plane correlator is described which computes the ambiguity function for passive, wideband, complex, and basebanded signals. Quadrature input modulation, single-sideband filtering, and a modified image plane correlator requiring no moving parts are used to achieve the required complex correlations.

Image restoration using optical correlation
Proceedings of the IEEE 1998 National Aerospace and Electronics Conference. NAECON 1998. Celebrating 50 Years (Cat. No.98CH36185), 2002An efficient technique for restoring the original from a blurred image using the concept of fringe-adjusted joint transform. Correlation is proposed. This technique employs Fourier plane apodization using the reference image power spectrum to deblur the distorted image.

Application of the optical correlator in the medical image registration
2008 IEEE International Symposium on IT in Medicine and Education, 2008Medical image registration, which is the precondition of medical image fusion, is a highlight of present medical image processing, and has important values in clinical diagnosis and treatment. To match the medical images with low SNR, the joint transform correlator is used to measure the image motion between the serial images.

Application of optical correlation techniques to particle imaging
Sensor and Measurements Techniques for Aeronautical Applications, 1988Pulsed laser sheet velocimetry yields noninstrusive measurements of velocity vectors across an extended 2-dimensional region of the flow field. The application of optical correlation techniques to the analysis of multiple exposure laser light sheet photographs can reduce and/or simplify the data reduction time and hardware.

Multichannel correlation recognition method of optical images
SPIE Proceedings, 2000In this paper a multi-channel real-time hybrid joint transform correlator is proposed. In this correlator, the computer control is used to divide the screen into several equal size windows, reference images of the windows are all the same one and object images are adopted from different frames of image sequences by CCD, twice Fourier transforms of ...

Ion And Optical Microscopic Images Superimposition And Correlation
SPIE Proceedings, 1989To make biological interpretation of Analytical Ion Microscopy (AIM) images possible, computerised superimposition of ion and optical images has become necessary. By these means, appropriate identification of morphological structures is achievable and functional activity of a tissue can be assessed.

Multiple Image Recognition By Nonlinear Optical Correlation
SPIE Proceedings, 1989We investigate the performance of a recently introduced bipolar joint transform image correlator when multiple reference objects and single and multiple targets are present at the input plane. The bipolar joint transform correlator uses nonlinearity at the Fourier plane to threshold the Fourier transform interference intensity to only two values, 1 and
