Multipulse Excitability in a Semiconductor Laser with Optical Injection [PDF]
An optically injected semiconductor laser can produce excitable multipulses. Homoclinic bifurcation curves confine experimentally accessible regions in parameter space where the laser emits a certain number of pulses after being triggered from its steady state by a single perturbation.

Period-One Laser Dynamics for Photonic Microwave Signal Generation and Applications
Due to the advantages of rich dynamics, small size, and easy integration, semiconductor lasers have many applications in microwave photonics. With a proper perturbation to invoke period-one (P1) nonlinear laser dynamics, a widely tunable microwave signal

Reflection-mode optical injection locking
A novel model including the interference effect of master laser reflection is established for reflection-mode optical injection locking. This model sheds insight on the physical origin of some rather distinct but unexplained modulation characteristics of optical injection-locked vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs), including data pattern ...

Wideband Photonic Microwave Frequency Divider With Large Harmonic Suppression Capability
An all-optical photonic microwave frequency divider (PMFD) is presented. It is based on injecting an RF phase modulated optical signal into a semiconductor laser oscillating in the period-two state.
