Homodyne BPSK Based Optical Inter-Satellite Communication Links

24th AIAA International Communications Satellite Systems Conference, 2006
Summer 2007, Tesat will verify laser communication terminals based on homodyne BPSK (binary phase shift keying) in-orbit. A 5.625 Gbps LEO-LEO laser communication link, established between the German satellite TerraSAR-X and the US satellite NFIRE, shall demonstrate the performance and advantages of laser communication.

Galileo POD using optical inter-satellite links: A simulation study

Advances in Space Research, 2020
Abstract In this simulation study the benefit of optical two-way inter-satellite links (OISL) between the Galileo satellites for orbit determination is discussed. Different link scenarios are analyzed in combination with Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) observations and a ground station network of seven or 16 stations, respectively.

The optics mechanical module for inter-satellite link

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
Inter-satellite link (ISL) is a system of several satellites, which encircle the earth and spaced at a fixed distance from each other - of about 3000 kilometers. The optical-mechanical module (MOM) for the ISL is designed to transmit data over long distances in a small range of angles.

Simulation of BPSK Costas loop for optical inter satellite link

2017 2nd IEEE International Conference on Recent Trends in Electronics, Information & Communication Technology (RTEICT), 2017
With the development of high resolution cameras for Earth observation applications, there is increasing demand on a high data rate Satellite communication link. Free Space Optical (FSO) communication is a suitable candidate for such high data rate communication and offers several advantages.

Inter-satellite communications using laser based optical links

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
Laser Communications offer a viable alternative to established RF communications for inter-satellite links and other applications where high performance links are a necessity. High data rate, small antenna size, narrow beam divergence, and a narrow field of view are characteristics of laser communications that offer a number of potential advantages ...

Laboratory Characterization of Optical Inter-satellite Links for Future GNSS

ION GNSS+, The International Technical Meeting of the Satellite Division of The Institute of Navigation, 2019
Optical inter-satellite links are proposed in the Kepler constellation to connect satellites in a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNNS) constellation for optical ranging, time transfer and data transmission [1]. A laboratory demonstrator is being developed to verify all three aspects.

Laboratory Demonstrator of Optical Inter-satellite Links for the Kepler System

ION GNSS+, The International Technical Meeting of the Satellite Division of The Institute of Navigation, 2018
The paper presents the laboratory demonstrator design of the bidirectional inter-satellite optical link for the Kepler system. Communication and ranging subsystem serves for data transmission at 50 Mbit/s and providing highly precise sub-millimeter ranging accuracy.

System analysis for optical inter-satellite link with varied parameter and pre-amplification

2016 International Conference on Advances in Computing, Communications and Informatics (ICACCI), 2016
Inter-satellite optical wireless communication (Is-OWC) provides high date rate long distance outdoor links free of licensing issue. There is a line of sight communication which is affected by the alignment of satellite in space. In this paper, the system is designed with pre-amplification in the inter-satellite link to combat the losses with the ...
