State-dependent interactions in ultracold 174Yb probed by optical clock spectroscopy
We report on the measurement of the scattering properties of ultracold ^174 Yb bosons in a three-dimensional optical lattice. Site occupancy in an atomic Mott insulator is resolved with high-precision spectroscopy on an ultranarrow, metrological optical ...

Controlling dipole-dipole frequency shifts in a lattice-based optical atomic clock
Motivated by the ideas of using cold alkaline earth atoms trapped in an optical lattice for realization of optical atomic clocks, we investigate theoretically the perturbative effects of atom-atom interactions on a clock transition frequency.

This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.

Suppression of collisional shifts in a strongly interacting lattice clock
Optical lattice clocks have the potential for extremely high frequency stability owing to the simultaneous interrogation of many atoms, but this precision may come at the cost of systematic inaccuracy due to atomic interactions.

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Cold collision shift cancelation and inelastic scattering in a Yb optical lattice clock
Recently, p-wave cold collisions were shown to dominate the density-dependent shift of the clock transition frequency in a 171Yb optical lattice clock.

Cermets (60 vol.% AISI 316L stainless steel, 40 vol.% recycled MgO), intended for use in aluminum electrolysis, were pre‐oxidized in three furnaces with different heating technologies and subjected to a cryolite corrosion test. The different atmospheres influenced the formation of oxide layers, which in turn affected corrosion resistance and ...

Determining the 3P0 Excited-State Tune-Out Wavelength of 174Yb in a Triple-Magic Lattice
Precise state-dependent control of optical potentials is of great importance for various applications utilizing cold neutral atoms. In particular, tune-out wavelengths for the clock state pair in alkaline-earth(-like) atoms provide maximally state ...
