Optical Lattice with Torus Topology. [PDF]

open access: yesPhys Rev Lett, 2018
We propose an experimental scheme to construct an optical lattice where the atoms are confined to the surface of a torus. This construction can be realized with spatially shaped laser beams which could be realized with recently developed high resolution imaging techniques.

Oscillations in a parametrically excited Bose-Einstein condensate in combined harmonic and optical lattice trap

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2012
In this work, we study parametric resonances in an elongated cigar-shaped BEC in a combined harmonic trap and a time dependent optical lattice by using numerical and analytical techniques.

Programming an optical lattice interferometer

open access: yesMaterials Today Quantum
Programming a quantum device describes the usage of quantum logic gates, agnostic of hardware specifics, to perform a sequence of operations with (typically) a computing or sensing task in mind.

On the Potential of Augmented Reality for Mathematics Teaching with the Application cleARmaths

open access: yesEducation Sciences, 2021
Learning content in mathematics, such as vector geometry, is still predominantly taught in an abstract manner, as the visualization and interaction of three-dimensional problems are limited with classical forms of teaching such as blackboard lessons or ...

Moiré superlattice structures in a rotating two-component Bose–Einstein condensates

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2022
We investigate the Moiré superlattice structures generated by the interplay between vortex lattice and optical lattice in two-component Bose–Einstein condensates. Square vortex lattices are generated in both components of the rapidly rotating condensates,

Multifrequency optical lattice for dynamic lattice-geometry control

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2022
Ultracold atoms in optical lattices are pristine model systems with a tunability and flexibility that goes beyond solid-state analogies, e.g., dynamical lattice-geometry changes allow tuning a graphene lattice into a boron-nitride lattice.

Nonlinear Excitations in Ultracold Atoms Trapped in Triple Optical Lattices

open access: yesCondensed Matter, 2022
Various solitary wave excitations are found for a Bose-Einstein condensate in presence of two hybrid potentials in the form of triple mixtures of optical lattices. One of these potentials comprises of a combination of two important lattice profiles, such

Feasibility Study for a Chemical Process Particle Size Characterization System for Explosive Environments Using Low Laser Power

open access: yesMicromachines, 2020
The industrial particle sensor market lacks simple, easy to use, low cost yet robust, safe and fast response solutions. Towards development of such a sensor, for in-line use in micro channels under continuous flow conditions, this work introduces static ...

Optical deceleration of atomic hydrogen

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2023
We demonstrate control over the motional degrees of freedom of a cryogenic hydrogen atomic beam using an accelerating optical lattice. For our method, we load metastable atoms from a cryogenic beam into a moving optical lattice, decelerate the lattice ...

Photoionization of Rydberg atoms in optical lattices

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2021
We develop a formalism for photoionization (PI) and potential energy curves (PECs) of Rydberg atoms in ponderomotive optical lattices and apply it to examples covering several regimes of the optical-lattice depth.
