All optical logic performance of quantum dot semiconductor amplifier-based devices
SPIE Proceedings, 2005The performances of all-optical logic gates AND, OR, XOR, NOT based on quantum dot semiconductor optical amplifier (QD SOA) devices have been simulated. The saturation power, optical gain and optical phase response of a QD SOA has been analyzed numerically using a rate equation model of quantum dots embedded in a wetting layer.

Optical logic devices based on spatial multiwaveguide system
China-Ireland International Conference on Information and Communications Technologies (CIICT 2007), 2007Based on the weakly coupled mode theory, the coupled-mode equations of the spatial multiwaveguide system are presented in general. The intensity distributions in each waveguide are determined by a numerical method. Optical logic devices based on spatial multiwaveguide system are proposed. The analysis result shows that the spatial multiwaveguide system

All-optical compact surface plasmonic two-mode interference device for optical logic gate operation
Applied Optics, 2015In this paper, we have proposed an ultra-compact surface plasmonic two-mode interference (SPTMI) coupler having a silicon core, silver upper and lower cladding, and GaAsInP left and right cladding for basic logic gate operations. By modulating the refractive index of the GaAsInP cladding with incidence of optical pulse energy, we have shown coupling ...

Optical threshold logic analog-to-digital converters using self electro-optic effect devices
SPIE Proceedings, 2005A novel 2-bit optical-input optical-output analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is demonstrated in self electro-optic device (SEED) technology using a threshold logic technique. The threshold gate was constructed using a resistor-SEED (R-SEED) which is composed of a large value resistor and a SEED area of 500 um x 500 um.

An introduction to optically bistable devices and photonic logic
Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1984The physical principles of the phenomenon of optical bistability are described and it is shown that a family of devices or ‘optical circuit elements can be realized including memories, logic gates and amplifiers. The current range of materials employed and of properties demonstrated is reviewed: it is concluded that with the present state of knowledge ...

Photonic Crystal Waveguide and Cavities for all-Optical Logic Devices
2018 Second International Conference on Inventive Communication and Computational Technologies (ICICCT), 2018Photonic crystal (PhC) waveguides and cavities are widely used structures for enhancement of output for photonic integrated devices. In this paper, we have presented a numerical investigation of light flow in two-dimensional PhC waveguides and cavities.

All-optical Logic Devices Using Group III-V Semiconductor Waveguides
SPIE Proceedings, 1985This paper describes our recent progress in the realization of all-optical logic devices using integrated waveguides in a III-V semiconductor. The potential for high speed all-optical signal processing is discussed. The physical mechanisms for the optical nonlinearity, including the important role of waveguide heating, are considered for their ...

The Nonlinear Coherent Coupler a New Optical Logic Device
Integrated and Guided Wave Optics, 1980This paper concerns a new optical logic device. This new device is a conventional coherent coupler driven with high enough input intensity so that effects nonlinear in the applied field become important. We deal with a third order nonlinearity assuming that either: the second order nonlinearity vanishes (by symmetry) or that the second order ...

Photonic synaptic device capable of optical memory and logic operations
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2017We demonstrate an optically-driven artificial synapse based on a graphene hybrid phototransistor. Both optical memory function (long-term plasticity) and logic operations are achieved, which adds important new capabilities to photonics enabled neuromorphic computing.

Table-top mirror based parallel programmable optical logic device
Optics & Laser Technology, 2014Abstract Light rays can easily be reflected to different path by mechanical movement of mirrors. Using this basic operational principle we can design parallel programmable optical logic device (PPOLD) by arranging mirrors on a table. The ‘table-top mirror’ models of this proposed circuit have been shown here.
