A Novel Method for the Processing of Optical Frequency Domain Reflectometry Traces

open access: yesOptics
Optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR) is one of the key diagnostic tools for fiber optic components and circuits built on them. A low signal-to-noise ratio, resulting from the low intensity of backscattered signals, prevents the correct ...

Meta‐analysis fails to show any correlation between protein abundance and ubiquitination changes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed over 50 published proteomics datasets to explore the relationship between protein levels and ubiquitination changes across multiple experimental conditions and biological systems. Although ubiquitination is often associated with protein degradation, our analysis shows that changes in ubiquitination do not globally correlate with changes in ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Machine Learning-Based Classification of Sulfide Mineral Spectral Emission in High Temperature Processes

open access: yesBig Data and Cognitive Computing
Accurate classification of sulfide minerals during combustion is essential for optimizing pyrometallurgical processes such as flash smelting, where efficient combustion impacts resource utilization, energy efficiency, and emission control.

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.
