Robust solving of optical motion capture data by denoising

ACM Transactions on Graphics, 2018
Raw optical motion capture data often includes errors such as occluded markers, mislabeled markers, and high frequency noise or jitter. Typically these errors must be fixed by hand - an extremely time-consuming and tedious task. Due to this, there is a large demand for tools or techniques which can alleviate this burden.

FUSION OF THE MAGNETIC AND OPTICAL INFORMATION FOR MOTION CAPTURING

International Journal of Image and Graphics, 2007
We propose a sensor fusion technique for motion capture system. In our system, two kinds of sensors are used for mutual assistance. Six magnetic sensors are attached on the arms and feet for assisting twelve optical markers and six optical markers, which are attached on the arms and feet of a performer, respectively.

Reduced marker layouts for optical motion capture of hands

Proceedings of the 8th ACM SIGGRAPH Conference on Motion in Games, 2015
We present a method for automatically generating reduced marker layouts for marker-based optical motion capture of human hand motions. Reducing the number of markers on the hand is important to ensure the generated motions are performed in a natural way and indeed a reduced marker set might be a technical requirement should simultaneous body motion ...

Analysis of accuracy in optical motion capture – A protocol for laboratory setup evaluation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanics, 2016
Abstract Validity and reliability as scientific quality criteria have to be considered when using optical motion capture (OMC) for research purposes. Literature and standards recommend individual laboratory setup evaluation. However, system characteristics such as trueness, precision and uncertainty are often not addressed in scientific reports on 3D ...

Quantification of hoof deformation using optical motion capture

Equine Veterinary Journal, 2001
Summary Deformation of the hoof capsule occurs during stance phase as a result of loading by the distal phalanx. The objective of this study was to evaluate optical motion capture as a technique for measuring hoof deformation during locomotion, and to quantify the deformation of the dorsal wall during stance phase. The front left feet
