Millimeter-Long Optical Antenna for Optical Phased Array

Array interconnection by phase-coded optical correlation

We present an algorithm for optical interconnection of two-dimensional arrays by transmitting the input through a phase-code mask then correlating it with a control image constructed from the interconnection weights. An arbitrary complex-weighted interconnection pattern can be encoded.

Silicon Optical-Phased-Array Prototypes Using Electro-Optical Phase Shifters

High-speed silicon optical-phased-array (OPA) prototypes are achieved using electro-optical phase shifters with quick response (4.2 ns) and small footprint (500 μm / 2π). 11.1° (1D) and 7.4° × 3.7° (2D) beam steering is observed.
