Electrical Tuning of Ferrimagnetic Spin Alignment Angle and Compensation Temperature in Pt/IrMn3/CoGd Multilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Spin‐orbit torque controls the Néel vector of antiferromagnetic IrMn3, which selectively exchange‐couples with spins of Co only in the ferrimagnetic CoGd. This selective interfacial pinning induces the non‐collinear spiral spin configuration, leading to a non‐uniform distribution of local compensation temperature along the film thickness, and enabling ...

Modal Analysis of Light Propagation, Polarization and Diffraction by Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The analysis of optical eigenmodes in chiral liquid crystal with perpendicular or tilted helical axis, and their correspondence with the external medium, leads to an intuitive understanding of the angle and wavelength dependency of transmissive and reflective diffraction.

Thermoresponsive Liquid Crystalline Polymer Coatings Programmed by Field‐Induced Topological Defects for Tunable Optical and Topographical Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Resonant standing waves generate large‐area lattices of liquid‐crystal topological defects that are permanently encoded into polymer coatings by photopolymerization. The preserved director architecture produces thermally reconfigurable surface topographies while maintaining programmable optical functionality, demonstrating a scalable strategy for ...

Enhanced Ferroelectric Phase Formation via Local Structure Modification in the Pre‐Crystalline State of Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hafnium zirconium oxide thin films are grown using plasma‐enhanced atomic layer deposition with the addition of an atomic layer annealing (ALA) step. ALA leads to a change in the short‐range structure of the deposit and encourages formation of the ferroelectric Pca21 phase. The result is wake‐up‐free performance with films exposed to ALA.

Cellular Responses to Mechanical Cues Across Scales: From Fundamental Insights to Translational Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...
