Highly efficient vectorial field manipulation using a transmitted tri-layer metasurface in the terahertz band

open access: yesOpto-Electronic Advances, 2023
Polarization is a basic characteristic of electromagnetic waves that conveys much optical information owing to its many states. The polarization state is manipulated and controlled for optical information security, optical encryption, and optical ...

TimeTubes: Visualization of Polarization Variations in Blazars

open access: yesGalaxies, 2016
Optical polarization provides important clues to the magnetic field in blazar jets. It is easy to find noteworthy patterns in the time-series data of the polarization degree (PD) and position angle (PA).

Metasurface spatiotemporal dynamics and asymmetric photonic spin-orbit interactions mediated vector-polarization optical chaos

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2021
We theoretically investigate metasurface spatiotemporal dynamics by introducing laser chaotic dynamics into metasurface domain. The spatiotemporal dynamics takes advantage of both the time-dependent dynamics of optical chaos and the local spatial ...

Polarization-maintaining optical microfiber [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2010
We have successfully demonstrated a polarization-maintaining (PM) fused silica microfiber by adiabatically tapering a conventional PM fiber. Compared to standard single-mode microfibers, the proposed PM microfibers exhibit robust polarization, preserving characteristics under the presence of external perturbations, such as bending.

A Topology Based Automatic Registration Method for Infrared and Polarized Coupled Imaging

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
In multi-source camera collaborative imaging research, it is known that the differences in size and resolution of the sensor chip, the angle of view and field of view when imaging, and the imaging characteristics of optical systems between cameras, makes

Polarizing optics in a spider eye [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Physiology A, 2010
Many arthropods including insects and spiders exploit skylight polarization for navigation. One of the four eye pairs of the spider Drassodes cupreus is dedicated to detect skylight polarization. These eyes are equipped with a tapetum that strongly plane-polarizes reflected light.
