Cylindrically polarized nondiffracting optical pulses [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Optics, 2016
We extend the concept of radially and azimuthally polarized optical beams to the polychromatic domain by introducing cylindrically polarized nondiffracting optical pulses. In particular, we discuss in detail the case of cylindrically polarized X-waves, both in the paraxial and nonparaxial regime.

Polarimetry for Photonic Integrated Circuits

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Photonic integrated circuits (PICs) play a key role in a wide range of applications. Very often, the performance of PICs depends strongly on the state of polarization of light.

Metasurface spatiotemporal dynamics and asymmetric photonic spin-orbit interactions mediated vector-polarization optical chaos

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2021
We theoretically investigate metasurface spatiotemporal dynamics by introducing laser chaotic dynamics into metasurface domain. The spatiotemporal dynamics takes advantage of both the time-dependent dynamics of optical chaos and the local spatial ...

Generating Arbitrary Order Cylindrical Vector Beams With Inherent Transform Mechanism

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
Polarization converters that convert incident linearly polarized beams into arbitrary order cylindrical vector beams (CVBs) are derived with the Jones matrix theory.

TimeTubes: Visualization of Polarization Variations in Blazars

open access: yesGalaxies, 2016
Optical polarization provides important clues to the magnetic field in blazar jets. It is easy to find noteworthy patterns in the time-series data of the polarization degree (PD) and position angle (PA).

Effect of Twisting Phases on the Polarization Dynamics of a Vector Optical Field

open access: yesPhotonics, 2022
The effect of twisting phases on the polarization dynamics of a vector vortex beam with a spatially variant state of polarization (SoP) is investigated theoretically and experimentally.

All fiber polarization insensitive detection for spectrometer based optical coherence tomography using optical switch

open access: yes, 2019
Polarization dependent image artifacts are common in optical coherence tomography imaging. Polarization insensitive detection scheme for swept source based optical coherence tomography systems is well established but is yet to be demonstrated for all ...

Broadband Achromatic and Polarization Insensitive Focused Optical Vortex Generator Based on Metasurface Consisting of Anisotropic Nanostructures

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
Optical vortex (OV) beams are ideal carriers for high-capacity optical communication, and long-wave infrared (LWIR) is the ideal wavelength band for long-range optical communication.

Polarization-resolved second-harmonic-generation optical coherence tomography in collagen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We describe a novel imaging technique, second-harmonic-generation optical coherence tomography (SHOCT). This technique combines the spatial resolution and depth penetration of optical coherence tomography (OCT) with the molecular sensitivity of second ...
