Highly Efficient Quasi-Optical Mode Converter for a Multifrequency High-Power Gyrotron
IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 2009A highly efficient quasi-optical mode converter with a bandwidth of 38 GHz has been designed and tested. The mode converter combines low-diffraction losses and a Gaussian mode content up to 97% for a set of nine modes in the range of 105 to 143 GHz for a 1-MW CW gyrotron.

The problem questions connected with projecting and development of reactor-lasers are considered. Reactor-laser parameters with laser output power from about 100 kW to 1 MW which may be used for applications in the various field of human interest are examined. Some problems which demand auxiliary investigations are considered.

Optimal Synthesis of Quasi-Optical Converters for High Power Gyrotrons
2006 IEEE International Vacuum Electronics Conference held Jointly with 2006 IEEE International Vacuum Electron Sources, 2006Quasi-optical launcher converter designs for high power gyrotrons use perturbations of the waveguide surface to convert the high order cavity mode to a Gaussian like beam. These designs of these converters is based on an analytic theory that specifies the mode amplitudes to obtain a Gaussian like distribution of the field in the azimuthal and axial ...

High-power optical parametric frequency converters with addressable wavelengths in the infrared
SPIE Proceedings, 2017Based on established short pulse lasers with an output wavelength around 1 μm optical parametric frequency converters open up the spectral range between 1.4 and 4.0 μm for the first time in a power range of interest to laser material processing. The systems can be flexibly adapted as regards wavelength, pulse parameters and spectral properties to the ...

The power supply system reliability at the edge of the power grid is often difficult to meet the needs of users. These main problems include low voltage and line failure. This paper proposes a source-optical-storage power supply system without an energy storage converter, which is composed of a photovoltaic converter, inverter, and energy storage ...

Design Studies of Quasi-Optical Mode Converter for 105 GHz High-Power Gyrotron
2020 IEEE 21st International Conference on Vacuum Electronics (IVEC), 2020In this paper, the design aspects of the quasi-optical launcher (QOL) and matching optics unit (MOU) are performed for 105 GHz gyrotron. After the interaction cavity and nonlinear taper section, high power RF wave with the cavity mode of ${\mathrm {TE_{17,6}}}$ need to be converted to Gaussian like mode which can be obtained from a dimpled wall QOL ...

All-optical nonblocking routing of 80 10 Gb/s C-band channels is demonstrated with a 100/spl times/100 optical crossconnect. The enabling technology is a channel equalizing low-power wavelength converter operating with -14 dBm input power such that no single channel amplification is needed.

DC-AC photonic power converters with liquid crystal optical modulators
Optics LettersIn this Letter, we propose a power-switch-free (PSF) DC–AC photonic power converter (PPC) that utilizes liquid-crystal optical modulators (LCOMs) to commutate optical flux, thereby eliminating the need for power switches and avoiding switching-induced electromagnetic interference (EMI).
