PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

The Level-0 Muon Trigger for the LHCb Experiment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A very compact architecture has been developed for the first level Muon Trigger of the LHCb experiment that processes 40 millions of proton-proton collisions per second.

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

InGaN photovoltaic converters: Processing approaches for high-power optical transmission

open access: yesMaterials Science in Semiconductor Processing
This work explores the processing of InGaN semiconductors as high-power optical transmission (HPOT) photovoltaic converters (OPCs). Current HPOT systems present limitations in efficiency and power density, primarily due to materials with low band gaps, such as GaAs, with significant losses at high irradiances due to series resistance issues.

Efficient and spectrally bright source of polarization-entangled photons

open access: yes, 2004
We demonstrate an efficient fiber-coupled source of nondegenerate polarization entangled photons at 795 and 1609 nm using bidirectionally pumped parametric down-conversion in bulk periodically poled lithium niobate. The single-mode source has an inferred

Non-linear optical frequency conversion crystals for space applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Reliable, long term operation of high-power laser systems in the Earth orbit is not a straightforward task as the space environment entails various risks for optical surfaces and bulk materials. The increased operational risk is, among others, due to the

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

55% Efficient High-Power Multijunction Photovoltaic Laser Power Converters for 1070 nm

open access: yesPhotonics
High-efficiency multijunction laser power converters are demonstrated for the first time at high power for optical inputs around 1070 nm. The InP-based photovoltaic power-converting III–V heterostructures are designed with eight lattice-matched InGaAsP ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Recent Advances in Coherent Optical Communications for Short-Reach: Phase Retrieval Methods

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
Short-reach transmission systems traditionally utilize intensity modulation (IM) at the transmitter and direct detection (DD) at the receiver due to their cost-effectiveness, small footprint, and low power consumption.
