Ultrasensitive Detection of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Using Frequency Locked Microtoroid Optical Resonators. [PDF]
Clean sport competition is of significant concern to many governments and sporting organizations. Highly sensitive and rapid sensors are needed to improve the detection of performance enhancing drugs in sports as athletes take diuretics to dilute the ...

Gain-through-filtering enables tuneable frequency comb generation in passive optical resonators. [PDF]
Optical frequency combs (OFCs), consisting of a set of phase-locked, equally spaced laser frequency lines, have enabled a great leap in precision spectroscopy and metrology since seminal works of Hänsch et al.

Experimental realization of deep-subwavelength confinement in dielectric optical resonators. [PDF]
Dielectric cavities support record low mode volumes by incorporating subwavelength features into photonic crystal unit cells. The ability to highly localize light with strong electric field enhancement is critical for enabling higher-efficiency solar ...

Probing 10 μK stability and residual drifts in the cross-polarized dual-mode stabilization of single-crystal ultrahigh-Q optical resonators. [PDF]
The thermal stability of monolithic optical microresonators is essential for many mesoscopic photonic applications such as ultrastable laser oscillators, photonic microwave clocks, and precision navigation and sensing.

Transverse Patterns In Nonlinear Optical Resonators
The book is devoted to the formation and dynamics of localized structures (vortices, solitons) and extended patterns (stripes, hexagons, tilted waves) in nonlinear optical resonators such as lasers, optical parametric oscillators, and photorefractive ...

Design of All-Optical Subtractors Utilized with Plasmonic Ring Resonators for Optical Computing
In this paper, a novel plasmonic all-optical half-subtractor and full-subtractor are designed for optical computing. The structure of plasmonic subtractors consists of a metal–insulator–metal (MIM) waveguide and rectangular ring resonators covered by a ...

Optical microbubble resonator [PDF]
We develop a method for fabricating very small silica microbubbles having a micrometer-order wall thickness and demonstrate the first optical microbubble resonator. Our method is based on blowing a microbubble using stable radiative CO(2) laser heating rather than unstable convective heating in a flame or furnace.

Resonant Optical Antennas [PDF]
We have fabricated nanometer-scale gold dipole antennas designed to be resonant at optical frequencies. On resonance, strong field enhancement in the antenna feed gap leads to white-light supercontinuum generation. The antenna length at resonance is considerably shorter than one-half the wavelength of the incident light.
