Fundamentals and applications of spatial dissipative solitons in photonic devices : [Chapter 6] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We review the properties of optical spatial dissipative solitons (SDS). These are stable, self‐localized optical excitations sitting on a uniform, or quasi‐uniform, background in a dissipative environment like a nonlinear optical cavity.

Pulse Generation by On‐Chip Dispersion Compensation at 8 µm Wavelength

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates on‐chip pulse generation at 8 μm$\mathrm{\mu}\mathrm{m}$ using chirped Bragg gratings in SiGe graded‐index photonic circuits to compensate the quadratic phase of quantum cascade laser frequency combs. With this approach pulses as short as 1.39 ps were produced, close to the transform limit, representing a key step toward compact,

Dispersive optical soliton solutions with the concatenation model incorporating quintic order dispersion using three distinct schemes

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
This paper addresses the new concatenation model incorporating quintic-order dispersion, incorporating four well-known nonlinear models. The concatenated models are the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, the Hirota equation, the Lakshmanan-Porsezian-Daniel ...

Spontaneous symmetry breaking of gap solitons in double-well traps

open access: yes, 2008
We introduce a two dimensional model for the Bose-Einstein condensate with both attractive and repulsive nonlinearities. We assume a combination of a double well potential in one direction, and an optical lattice along the perpendicular coordinate.

Necklace-ring vector solitons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We introduce novel classes of optical vector solitons that consist of incoherently coupled self-trapped “necklace” beams carrying zero, integer, and even fractional angular momentum.

Soliton “molecules”: Robust clusters of spatiotemporal optical solitons

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2003
We show how to generate robust self-sustained clusters of soliton bullets-spatiotemporal (optical or matter-wave) solitons. The clusters carry an orbital angular momentum being supported by competing nonlinearities. The "atoms" forming the "molecule" are fully three-dimensional solitons linked via a staircaselike macroscopic phase.

Observation of Linear and Nonlinear Light Trapping on Topological Dislocations

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Topological dislocations are global lattice defects found in various systems ranging from crystals to photonic lattices. This work reports the first observation at optical frequencies of linear modes with tunable localization bound to edge dislocations and their nonlinear counterparts ‐ dislocation solitons. These results reveal an intriguing interplay

Bright-Dark and Multi Solitons Solutions of (3 + 1)-Dimensional Cubic-Quintic Complex Ginzburg–Landau Dynamical Equation with Applications and Stability

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
In this paper, bright-dark, multi solitons, and other solutions of a (3 + 1)-dimensional cubic-quintic complex Ginzburg−Landau (CQCGL) dynamical equation are constructed via employing three proposed mathematical techniques.

Asymmetric vortex solitons in nonlinear periodic lattices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We reveal the existence of asymmetric vortex solitons in ideally symmetric periodic lattices, and show how such nonlinear localized structures describing elementary circular flows can be analyzed systematically using the energy-balance relations.

Unveiling New Perspectives on the Hirota–Maccari System With Multiplicative White Noise

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, we delve into the stochastic Hirota–Maccari system, which is subjected to multiplicative noise according to the Itô sense. The stochastic Hirota–Maccari system is significant for its ability to accurately model how stochastic affects nonlinear wave propagation, providing valuable insights into complex systems like fluid dynamics
