Ultra-compact 32 × 32 strictly-non-blocking Si-wire optical switch with fan-out LGA interposer.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2015
We demonstrate a 32 × 32 path-independent-insertion-loss optical path switch that integrates 1024 thermooptic Mach-Zehnder switches and 961 intersections on a small, 11 × 25 mm2 die.

Fiber-optical switch controlled by a single atom. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2013
We demonstrate highly efficient switching of optical signals between two optical fibers controlled by a single atom. The key element of our experiment is a whispering-gallery-mode bottle microresonator, which is coupled to a single atom and interfaced by

Temperature-controlled optical switch metasurface with large local field enhancement based on FW-BIC

open access: yesFrontiers in Nanotechnology, 2023
Introduction: Many researchers have explored the bound states in the continuum (BICs) as a particular bound wave state which can be used to achieve a very high Q-factor.

All-optical switching of photonic entanglement

open access: yes, 2011
Future quantum optical networks will require the ability to route entangled photons at high speeds, with minimal loss and added in-band noise, and---most importantly---without disturbing the photons' quantum state.

Alkane biosynthesis gene expression and its increased production in recombinant cyanobacteria

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The transcription and mRNA structures of the alkane biosynthesis genes ado/aar were analysed in the representative cyanobacteria PCC 6803 and SK1‐2‐1, which produce C17H36 and C15H32, respectively. PCC 6803 transconjugants carrying these genes showed a 1.8‐ to 2.3‐fold increase in C17H36 production.

Fast-response and high-efficiency optical switch based on dual-frequency liquid crystal polarization grating

open access: yes, 2016
A dual-frequency liquid crystal polarization grating is fabricated by photoalignment and demonstrated as an optical switch. A high diffraction efficiency up to 95% is obtained for a single first order with circular incident polarization.

Sequential double second-order nonlinear optical switch by an acido-triggered photochromic cyclometallated platinum(II) complex.

open access: yesChemical Communications, 2015
An unprecedented DTE-based Pt(II) complex, 2(o), which stands as the first example of a sequential double nonlinear optical switch, induced first by protonation and next upon irradiation with UV light is presented.

All-Optical Switch and Transistor Gated by One Stored Photon [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2013
A Single-Photon Gate A long-standing goal in optics is to produce an all-optical transistor, in which the transmission of a light beam can be controlled by a single photon.

Design of Optical Tunnel Switching Networks for Big Data Applications

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In this paper, we proposed large-scale optical tunnel switching networks based on the Torus topology network with WSS (Wavelength Selective Switch) for future big data applications.

Polarisation-independent optical switch with cascaded optical switch matrices

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1988
We propose a new approach to achieve polarisationindependence and demonstrate the operation of a 2 × 2 switch. This method uses optical switch matrices cascaded in tandem configurations. With this approach, switching voltage is determined only by the strongest electro-optic effect.
