Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 1993 Chirality in molecular opto-electronics is limited sofar to the use of optically active liquid crystals and a number of optical phenomena are related to the helical macroscopic structure obtained by using one enantiomer, only. In this paper, the use of chirality in nonlinear optics and optical switching is demonstrated.

2006 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2006 The optical burst switching (OBS) schemes to date assume that the switching overhead at intermediate nodes is either negligible or can be considered as part of the processing delay of the control packet. In this paper, we will show that the switching overhead can have a significant impact on the performance of OBS.
