Non-volatile Optical Switch Based on a GST-Loaded Directional Coupler [PDF]
We present a non-volatile optical switch based on a directional coupler comprising a silicon-Ge2Sb2Te5 (GST) hybrid waveguide. The non-volatility of GST makes it attractive for reducing static power consumption in optical switching.

Ultrafast all-optically controlled 2×2 crossbar switch [PDF]
All-optical packet switching using all-optical routing control, where both ultrafast address recognition and routing of photonic packets were all optically performed on a header with 4 picosecond bit period, was demonstrated.

Silicon waveguide optical switch with embedded phase change material. [PDF]
Phase-change materials (PCMs) have emerged as promising active elements in silicon (Si) photonic systems. In this work, we design, fabricate, and characterize a hybrid Si-PCM optical switch.

All-Optical Packet Switching and Label Rewriting for Data Packets Beyond 160 Gb/s
In this paper, two different paradigms to realize a scalable all-optical packet switch with label swapping will be reviewed. The two paradigms are based on wavelength routing switch and space routing switch.

All-optical switch with two periodically curved nonlinear waveguides [PDF]
We propose a type of all-optical switch which consists of two periodically curved nonlinear optical waveguides placed in parallel. Compared to the all-optical switch based on the traditional nonlinear directional coupler with straight waveguides, this all-optical switch has much lower switching threshold power and sharper switching width.

Large-Scale and Simple-Configuration Optical Switch Enabled by Asymmetric-Port-Count Subswitches
We propose a novel optical switch architecture for intra-datacenter interconnection. The proposed switch consists of asymmetric-port-count delivery-and-coupling (DC) switches and wavelength-routing (WR) switches based on arrayed-waveguide gratings (AWGs).

All-optical switching in epsilon-near-zero asymmetric directional coupler
We propose an all-optical switch based on an asymmetric directional coupler structure with epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) layer. The nonlinear optical properties the of ENZ layer are analyzed by hot-electron dynamics process, and the all-optical operating ...

Ultrafast and High Extinction Ratio 1×4 Electro-Optical Switch Based on Cascaded Dual-Output MZI
We propose and fabricate an ultrafast and high extinction ratio 1 × 4 optical switch based on a cascade, dual-output Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MZI) on the lithium niobate platform. The optical switch consists of cascaded, identical, dual-

The concept of a miniature all-optical space switch based on the photonic hook effect
We propose and discuss main properties of a new concept of an all-optical dielectric two-channel wavelength-selective switch based on the photonic hook effect. A prototype of such a de-vice based on dielectric microstructures with broken symmetry of both

All-optical switching at the two-photon limit with interference-localized states [PDF]
We propose a single-photon-by-single-photon all-optical switch concept based on interference-localized states on lattices and their delocalization by interaction. In its 'open' operation, the switch stops single photons while allows photon pairs to pass the switch.
