New Photonic System for Optical Packet Switching [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, 2003
Fast optical switching (ms timebase) is realized by using a RF frequency tone inserted in the optical packet that carries a digital payload. By using a highly selective RF filtering for optical packet header frequency recognition, we have obtained ...

All-Optical Switching and Router via the Direct Quantum Control of Coupling between Cavity Modes

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2013
In this work, we describe a scheme to execute all-optical control of the routing or switching of photonic information where, by optically controlling the internal quantum state of a individual scatterer coupled to two independent cavity modes, one can ...

Silicon Photonics towards Disaggregation of Resources in Data Centers

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
In this paper, we demonstrate two subsystems based on Silicon Photonics, towards meeting the network requirements imposed by disaggregation of resources in Data Centers.

Real‐World Performance of CSF Kappa Free Light Chains in the 2024 McDonald Criteria

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Kappa free light chains (KFLCs) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) have a similar performance to CSF‐restricted oligoclonal bands (OCB) for multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis. To help with implementation, we set out to resolve several remaining uncertainties: (1) performance in a real‐world cohort and the 2024 McDonald criteria; (2 ...

Ultrafast defect dynamics: A new approach to all optical broadband switching employing amorphous selenium thin films

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2015
Optical switches offer higher switching speeds than electronics, however, in most cases utilizing the interband transitions of the active medium for switching. As a result, the signal suffers heavy losses. In this article, we demonstrate a simple and yet

Digital electric field induced switching of plasmonic nanorods using an electro-optic fluid fiber

open access: yes, 2017
We demonstrate the digital electric field induced switching of plasmonic nanorods between 1 and 0 orthogonal aligned states using an electro-optic fluid fiber component.

Single shot ultrafast all optical magnetization switching of ferromagnetic Co/Pt multilayers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In a number of recent experiments, it has been shown that femtosecond laser pulses can control magnetization on picosecond timescales, which is at least an order of magnitude faster compared to conventional magnetization dynamics.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Controlled multiple spectral hole burning via a tripod-type atomic medium

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
In limit of saturation spectroscopy, we theoretically study the spectral hole burning (SHB) in the absorption spectrum of a probe field through a tripod atomic system. The response function for the probe field is calculated in a Doppler-broadened medium.

Nanosecond channel-switching exact optical frequency synthesizer using an optical injection phase-locked loop (OIPLL) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Experimental results are reported on an optical frequency synthesizer for use in dynamic dense wavelength-division-multiplexing networks, based on a tuneable laser in an optical injection phase-locked loop for rapid wavelength locking.
