Single-mode optical waveguides

Applied Optics, 1979
An efficient and powerful technique has been developed to treat the problem of wave propagation along arbitrarily shaped single-mode dielectric waveguides with inhomogeneous index variations in the cross-sectional plane. This technique is based on a modified finite-element method.

Benzocyclobutene optical waveguides

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 1995
Single-mode optical waveguides at 1300 nm have been fabricated from the organic polymer benzocyclobutene. This material system utilizes a 535 rmb photodefinable resin for forming the core of the waveguide, allowing the waveguides to be processed in a fashion similar to a negative photoresist.

Optically pumped waveguide lasers

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1976
The optically pumped waveguide gas lasers in the submillimeter and millimeter wave regions are simple, compact, rugged, efficient, practical, coherent sources. A number of new laser lines have been observed in these lasers. General considerations are given on the attenuation constants of waveguides and the rate equation models. Characteristics of these

Waveguide dispersion in anisotropic optical waveguides

Soviet Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1987
The method of shift formulas is employed to obtain approximate analytic expressions which can be used to calculate?with sufficient accuracy for practical applications?the waveguide and polarization dispersion of the dominant orthogonally polarized modes in anisotropic optical fiber waveguides.

Optical waveguide

A waveguide, which is part of an integrated optical circuit is arranged onto a planar substrate, and has a core section propagating light to a direction of propagation. The waveguide is a conversion waveguide between a ridge-type waveguide and a strip waveguide.
