Optically stimulated luminescence in synthetic quartz
Journal of Luminescence, 1994Abstract Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL), has been studied in synthetic quartz crystals, which had previously been exposed to β- or X-irradiations. The main emission bands appeared at ≈380 and ≈440 nm. The excitation spectra of these emission bands were now measured and showed both a maximum at 330 nm.

Optically stimulated luminescence in NaMgF3:Eu2+
Applied Physics Letters, 2007Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) and thermoluminescence (TL) measurements were performed on polycrystalline NaMgF3:Eu2+ as well as sintered and quenched NaMgF3:Eu2+ after exposure to ionizing radiation. The authors find a range of TL traps and the sintering and quenching process reduces the concentration of shallow traps.

Optically stimulated luminescence of CaF2:Ce
Journal of Luminescence, 2018Abstract Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) is the luminescence emitted from a previously irradiated with ionizing radiation material by exposure to light. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the Blue Stimulation Luminescence (BSL) and Infra-Red Stimulation Luminescence (IRSL) for CaF2:Ce produced by the Solution Combustion Synthesis (SCS ...

Optically stimulated luminescence of CaF2:Tm
Radiation Measurements, 2016Abstract This work presents the results on the Blue Stimulation Luminescence (BSL) and Infra-Red Stimulation Luminescence (IRSL) of CaF2:Tm produced by the Solution Combustion Synthesis (SCS) method. XRD confirmed the formation of calcium fluoride. BSL showed a dose independent signal due to excitation-emission of Tm bands which was not observed for ...

Optically Stimulated Luminescence Dosimetry: An Introduction
Solid State Phenomena, 2015A subset of solid state materials have long been used as integrating dosimeters because they store energy deposited as a result of their interactions with ionizing radiation and then, when stimulated appropriately, release a proportionate amount of visible or near-visible light.

Optically Stimulated Luminescence in MgS:Ce,Sm
Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 1986Abstract MgS:Ce,Sm has been investigated for optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) characteristics with a view to application in radiation dosimetry. Two dominant glow peaks, around 346 and 449K are observed in this material. The latter peak is suitable for dosimetry. This peak can be optically stimulated under 1317 nm irradiation from

In radiotherapy, radiation oncologists use Megavoltage (MV) photon beams to deliver dose to target areas of a patient due to the MV's skin-sparing characteristics, but if the target area is near the surface of the patient, material referred to as a bolus is added to the patient's surface to provide dose build up and bring the maximum dose delivered ...

Optically stimulated luminescence: A brief overview
Radiation Measurements, 2011The use of optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) in radiation dosimetry has been conditioned by the availability of suitable dosimetry (OSLD) materials. The crucial property dictating the suitability of a material as an OSLD is the material’s defect structure.
