Optically stimulated luminescence: A brief overview

Radiation Measurements, 2011
The use of optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) in radiation dosimetry has been conditioned by the availability of suitable dosimetry (OSLD) materials. The crucial property dictating the suitability of a material as an OSLD is the material’s defect structure.

Optically stimulated luminescence of cowrie shells

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2021
Characteristics of continuous wave optically stimulated luminescence (CW-OSL) and linear modulation OSL (LM-OSL) from three different types of cowrie shells are presented. Irradiated samples were optically stimulated at 72 mW/cm2 for CW-OSL and linearly ramped from zero to 72 mW/cm2 to obtain LM-OSL.

Optically stimulated luminescence in forensics

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2005
Tracking the former location of a radioactive source represents an attractive attribute in today's society, where the threat of a radiological dispersal device (RDD) is considered high. Development of a novel, retrospective detection technique based on optically stimulated luminescence is underway. This will allow confirmation of the former location of

Optically stimulated luminescence in doped NaCl

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2016
OSL in doped NaF is studied. Study shows that NaF:Mg,Cu,P phosphor possess good OSL properties having sensitivity comparable to that of commercially available Al2O3:C (Landauer Inc.). For the luminescence averaged over 3s the obtained OSL is 37% of that commercial available Al2O3:C.

Optically stimulated luminescence in enaminones

Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 2020
Abstract This work presents the first experimental results of optically stimulated luminescence in organic crystals type enaminones. Samples were synthesized by means of the condensation reaction of acetylacetone with four aromatics amines in acid medium.

Optically Stimulated Luminescence in Retrospective Dosimetry

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2002
Since the beginning of the 1990s the exploration of optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) in retrospective accident dosimetry has driven an intensive investigation and development programme at Risø into measurement facilities and techniques. This paper reviews some of the outcomes of this programme, including the evaluation of the single-aliquot ...

Optically stimulated luminescence of persistent luminescence materials

Journal of Luminescence, 2006
Abstract For around ten years, intense attention has been devoted to materials which exhibit strong persistent luminescence. The Eu 2+ doped SrAl 2 O 4 is probably the best one. Co-doping with other trivalent rare earth ions, especially with Dy 3+ , enhances the persistent luminescence.
