Image Transport Through Meter-Long Randomly Disordered Silica-Air Optical Fiber

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
We present a randomly disordered silica-air optical fiber featuring a 28.5% air filling fraction in the structured region, and low attenuation below 1 dB per meter at visible wavelengths.

Scatterometer and Intensity Distribution Meter With Screen Image Synthesis

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
A screen image synthesis (SIS) system is superior than the conventional methods in terms of high-speed measurement and low screen-cross-talk noise when used as a whole-field light-distribution meter.

Enhanced Ultrasound Transmission Through Aberration Layers Using Space‐Coiling Acoustic Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Enhancing ultrasound transmission through an aberration layer exhibiting mismatched impedance with the surrounding medium possesses great implications in imaging and treatment. In this study, we show that a space‐coiling acoustic metamaterial with judiciously tailored structural profile can help improve impedance matching.

Application of A Frequency Chirped RF Intensity Modulated 532 nm Light Source in Underwater Ranging

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
A radio-frequency (RF) intensity-modulated light source at 532 nm was built for underwater ranging. The intensity of a narrow-linewidth laser at 1064 nm was modulated via a Mach-Zehnder electro-optical modulator.

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Super-resolution imaging using nano-bells

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
In this paper we demonstrate a new scheme for optical super-resolution, inspired, in-part, by PALM and STORM. In this scheme each object in the field of view is tagged with a signal that allows them to be detected separately.

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Rapid Test for Adulteration of Fritillaria Thunbergii in Fritillaria Cirrhosa by Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy

open access: yesFoods, 2023
Fritillaria has a long history in China, and it can be consumed as medicine and food. Owing to the high cost of Fritillaria cirrhosa, traders sometimes mix it with the cheaper Fritillaria thunbergii powder to make profit.
